Assistant manager Chris Hughton has revealed this morning that the Newcastle United management team have given N’Zogbia a pep talk, and told the youngster he is an important player to Newcastle.
N’Zogbia – given a pep talk by management
The French player in contracted to the club until 2012 and Joe Kinnear and Chris Hughton want the player to stay on Tyneside, because they see him as an important player for the team.
From our viewpoint we are just sick of hearing Charles – or his agent – we think its’ the same thing – that he wants to leave Newcastle for Aston Villa, Spurs or Arsenal – which he has made clear is his choice – but Wenger isn’t interested.
There have been continual reports from the Newcastle camp since Charles arrived that the lad has a big opinion of himself, and just maybe too big for his boots, and he has always been a little bit of a problem with the club.
Chris Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today
“One thing that becomes difficult these days is agents, but we’ve spoken to Charles, and he knows he is an important player to us.”
“The most important thing is that when you make a substitution, that he can have an impact on the game, and I thought he did. We needed to push players from midfield.”
“When Geremi came off it wasn’t a question of him playing poorly, but we needed more offensive runs from midfield, and Charles is able to do that.”
Speaking on the decision to drop N’Zogbia on Saturday, after Charles started in front of Gutierrez in the previous game, Hughton added:
“Charles was strictly tactical, given the fact he’d come off against Hull,”
“He hadn’t trained all week, and if we’d have started him, and he’d have got a knock on what was a week’s injury, it could have turned into a two-week injury.
“We couldn’t take the chance with him at this particular moment. We always felt he would have to come on, but we were also aware we’ve got another game on Wednesday.”
But it wasn’t a big surprise that Charles started on the bench – after the great display by Argentine Jonas Gutierrez, who came on for the Frenchman at Hull City, after he had started the game on the bench.
N’Zogbia was today again linked with a move to Aston Villa who are reportedly prepared to offer England international left-back Nicky Shorey in part exchange.
The question we have is that if Charles is not prepared to0 stop these quotes about wanting to leave, or he just doesn’t want to play at Newcastle anymore – it will be best to move him out.
But only at a date and time that suits the club, and that’s unlikely to be in January.
Comments welcome.

Comment #54In my opinion, Taylor is both too stiff and lacking in awareness for midfield. He’s much better running straight lines. Being reasonably quick, strong and willing enough to run with the ball, he’s a decent enough right back in theory, as he’s proved in practice. Whether that’s where he’ll continue to make the grade is questionable.

Comment #59again beye there is soo much talent in south america that can be picked up and nurtured into world class players. It depresses me that we never go to africa or south america like the french dutch and spanish leagues do. we can build for the futur and work on a tight budget this way.

Comment #64The problem with going to Latin America is that they are so used to playing in hot weather that a season in the North East would kill them.
They can get away with playing in France or Italy as the weather there is generally warmer. There are one or two exceptions to this, Nobby springs to mind, but you don’t get many Brazilians in the PL unless you count the well groomed players wifes. 🙂

imo though it would only be a matter if time before they get used to it and especially if you bring them in at a young age they tend to adapt quicker

Comment #67Beye – I agree about bringing in the youngsters. Another reason they adapt quicker in La Liga, Serie A etc.. is because the style of football is so similar to the south american leagues. The pace is slower, so they have time to do all their tricks and flicks. In the PL you try this and you’ll get someone taking your legs from you.

Comment #74Both were South Americans but while Tyneside fitted Nobby like a velvet glove. Conversely, Tyneside fitted Christian Bassedas like an S&M scrotum vice. It depends on the individual. Most of them seem happier with a stretch of water between them and Newcastle.

Comment #75If we can’t train Taylor as a RB then we should sell him when other teams still think he has ‘potential’, coz the lad isn’t getting (or shouldn’t be) a sniff at the starting 11 when Colo & Bassong are by far and away our best defensive pairing.
Also, I think Jonas and Enrique have the makings to form a good partnership down the left flank. Its a work in progress, but when they get a good run together and build up a real understanding I think they’ll be class. They had moments of brilliance together in the Hammers game, just the odd lapse of concentration from Jose, giving away the ball, wayward passes etc. But nothing that won’t improve with a consistant starting 11.

Comment #76What I would give to have a young Nolberto Solano supplying the crosses for Owen and Carroll…
What a player Nobby was. He was a bit like Beckham in the sense that he didn’t have bag loads of pace but you don’t need it if you can cross perfectly.

Comment #77punk – they should just keep the under-soil heating on all the time. Take the running costs into consideration when they’re signed and they’d feel right at home.

Comment #79To be fair to Bassedas, he got a bad injury straight off, when he came here & he didn’t get that many games or starts or consecutive games/starts…& i really think that does S.Americans in, they need time to adjust!..
