Joe Kinnear was interviewed on Sky Sports today and he says he’ll know within 48 hours whether two loan signings, for which the fees have already been agreed, come through.

Joe Kinnear - two loan signing fees already agreed
Joe made a point of adding they were two expensive loan fees for two players.
This is what Joe Kinenar told Sky Sports today:
“We’ve got one or two players, again because it’s an emergency situation at the moment, who we may be taking.”
“We’ve agreed a loan deal for two players, two expensive loan deals, again through the end of the season, because of the crisis we’ve got injury wise.”
“I’ll possibly know about these within 48 hours, and if that is AOK we may be in a better position for the Blackburn game.”
We’ve got to think these two players are very decent if the loan fees are high, and Joe seems hopeful they will come through, and before the Blackburn game possibly, so they could be part of the squad for that game.
That sounds good news, because we knew we would make loan deals, so better get those in as quickly as possible.
And with Peyter Lovenkrands due to sign a deal through the end of the season on Friday, that could be 3 new players in through the end of the season, and we think more players to follow.
Kinnear said he knew Lovekrand’s agent many years ago and when he heard Peter was available last week, he immediately brought him to Newcastle.
So the link with Lovenkrands came through Joe, and remember the former Wimbledon manager knows lots of scouts who keep him well informed on good up and coming players.
Joe told Sky Sports Peter’s done extremely well in training over the last two days, and the player has already been offered a contract and verbally accepted it.
Things may be getting better – hope so.
Let us know who you think the loan singings are – we think one could well be John Arne Riise.
Howay The Lads!!

23 toonarmyuk // Jan 13, 2009 at 6:02 PM
Lets just hope this isnt another of Kinnear’s throwaway comments which get the fans hopes up and then dont actually happen.
If the past is anything to go by, I would say that we will probably get one of them, and I would hazard a guess that it will be the Argie due to the current links to the squad (Colo and Jonas).
Only time will tell though….here’s hoping they both go ahead…

i remember a few months back we was linked to a left back from independiente, mareque or someone, aa argie left back, could it be him?
25 cooldj // Jan 13, 2009 at 6:04 PM
blip. kinnear is only down till the end of the season. mike might reasses things then cos if he cant sell till the economy turns round (which may take 3-4or even 5 more years) then he might think it best to get in a better manager for the longer term. (i mean we’re hardly doing fantastic with kinnear in charge)

Argentine – Higuain, Heinze, Tevez, Gago, Zarate, D’Alessandro
Italian – Zambrotta, Cassano, Grosso, Aquilani
Those would all be very expensive loan signing although i don’t really know if any of them have been playing regularly for their clubs lately.
Personally i would love to get Vargas from Fiorentina but i don’t think we have anywhere near the funds.

Can’t say I’d be too disappointed if Kinnear left, but to be fair he’s not doing a bad job, given the tools at his disposal. At least we’re becoming quite hard to beat – just need a new LB and someone to replace Butt and we might just turn some of those draws into wins.
34 tino97 // Jan 13, 2009 at 6:10 PM

Who do you guys think are the fringe players on their way out?
Combined 4.5m…. Geremi and Smith? Viduka? Edgar? Cacapa? Noone else can really be qualified as fringe, and Smith and Viduka are injured. I am thinking it’s prob. Geremi, Edgar, Cacapa unless Everton/Boro actually came in for Smith.
It looks like he wants to sign a player for the 4.5m in addition to bringing in the two loan players and Løvenkrands.. and would like to get more as well. Those four would be a good start..

From Wikipedia:
On 7 December 2008, Gattuso suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament early on in the 1-0 league win against Catania. However, despite the injury, Gattuso played the entire 90 minutes before being diagnosed by the club doctors after the match. He will undergo surgery to repair the damage on December 19 in Antwerp, after consulting world-renowned specialist Professor Martens, and is expected to miss up to 6 months of action. He said it hurt a lot in numerous interviews

Kinnear also killed off the Quashie rumors earlier aswell which was good, would be good to get Appiah in to replace Butt, if the Spuds don’t offer him a deal after his trial. JK also said about getting 4.5mil for 2 fringe players so at least he will have some funds to work with.

Translation of the link posted by Brazilian Geordie:
The attacker Caio Vinícius Ferreira is another talent that wins the capixaba world. Two months ago in Newcastle, England, a young man of 18 years is having the opportunity to play alongside athletes such as Michael Owen English, the Nigerian Obafemi Martins and Brazilian Caçapa, which before were only seen it on television.
“I never thought about working with these guys that I saw on TV. Finalizations During the training, for example, look at one side and I see Owen. I look at the other and see the Martins. It’s very cool,” says Amit, who English signed with the team for 3 years.
The Capixaba, which is the Holy Spirit to get the passport and Italian citizenship, said his best friend has been there Caçapa.
“As yet I have no car, he takes every day for training and invites me to go to his house. It is an expensive fine people,” said Caio, who expects the documentation is ready by the next week.
As anxious as the player is the technical capixaba of Newcastle, Joe Kinnear. The coach does not stop calling, asking for the attacker as soon as possible return to England.
“He asked me to come back soon because it is very player is hurting. It seems that the team needs me,” said the beast, revealing that has caught even the English. “They will hire a teacher for me,” concludes, wasted good mood.

110 Ross // Jan 13, 2009 at 7:11 PM
Dossena is a crock of shoyte. Go back and watch the liverpool/spuds cup match. He was at fault for the majority of their goals if i remember correctly. Watched it in the pub with a bunch of scousers and they were fuming with him.
I’m absolutly clueless as to who these loan signings could be and i think we’d be hard pressed to guess correctly to be honest.
Out of interest, have we offered lovenkrands a deal 2 days into a week long trial?..i can just see it now.
“alright son…can you still run yeah?, alright just pass the ball to him, and just shoot at that goal there. Ooft, just wide. Excellent, we’ll have you”

113 Brazilian Geordie // Jan 13, 2009 at 7:16 PM
The report says he’s a foward. But I dind’t believe much in that. I just posted here because, who knows, maybe some Geordies could well be aware of this guy.
For me it seems like it’s made up. Especially when he says:
”He (JK) wishes me to get back soon because many players are getting injured. The team needs me”
Oh, common, I really doubt if JK is needing this guy. And what he’s supposely doing here if the Reserves team are just playing at this momment of the season as well as the First Team.
And also the are very poor words in this story. Like ”disse a fera” or ‘’said the beast” whatsoever. ”Fera” in Brazil is a word used to tip some brazilian players like Robinho and the others who just run run run and do nothing at all. And is a very poor term.
Anyway, thanks for the answers.

The Argentine is Lionel Messi. According to an Argentinian newspaper, he’s recently been on Tyneside receiving a medical and the loan fee has been agreed by FC Barcelona. Also, Newcastle managment has been in close contact with Ronaldinho, Wayne Rooney, and Dennis Wise has actually gone back in time to sign a 21 year old Franz Beckenbauer. From what I hear, SuperMac may actually be joining Beckenbauer.

I have to say, mate, I don’t believe that there’s a player on the pitch that’s “too good for us”. We’re a big club in the Premiership with quite a lot of talent. We’ve a lot to offer any player. Right now, things are a bit unstable, but every team goes through times like this. It surely won’t get better with the impression that someone is “too good” for us. We not only need the best talent in the world, we DESERVE it. One day, we’ll have it, and nice shiney piece of silverware will adorn SJP. We just gotta stay optimistic.

Probably true. Oh well. This January, I’m just hoping that we can get in some decent reinforcements. A couple loans will be great. Help get our bums outta the fire a bit, like. I’m anxious to see how well Ashley does for us in this transfer window. Strengthening our side adequately will go a long way to restore a bit of confidence in MA. When I say adequately, I mean, at LEAST: FBx2, AMx1, DMx1. I’d like to get a pacey striker too, but I think we’re probably ok in that department. I’ve high hopes for Lovenkrands. This is what Joe is dealing with. No surprise we haven’t had much activity in the transfer market. Surely one of the supporters could do a better job than Llambias…
‘It was called very hastily after I explained on Monday the difficult position we are in. I said that we need to act and act quickly. I will make that argument. I have brought it forward because of the urgency of the situation. The chairman [Llambias] was at home and I said, ‘No, you need to come in. Come up tonight, we need to talk and get cracking.’
“In the position we’re in, if you lose two or three games you can suddenly find yourself in the bottom three. I am not sure if they [the board] understand that already but I will make them aware of it.”

The prospect of a couple of loan signings until the end of the season is pretty exciting in the short term but what about next year?? If these players were a success their clubs will either want them back or want stupid money, take that into account along with the number of the current 1st team squad out of contract and it all looks pretty bleak for next season!!

Quote first!
Lovenkrands finally joined us, can’t believe it. Decent player for free. As for Appiah, there are good reasons why he is so damn good but yet no big clubs or even Hull has gone for him.
For the Argentine and Italian loanees, assuming they do come over, I just hope that the Argentine plays in attacking position and the Italian plays in defensive midfield. That’s what they are best at. They should be good players without a doubt as that will justify their loan fees. I’m hoping for two more loanees, just to keep our season alive.

IT BETTER HAPPEN IS ALL I CAN SAY.
261 AndyNUFC // Jan 13, 2009 at 9:14 PM
It’s really a bit of a joke when our own manager comes out in the press and tells everyone that during the one month we have to buy players to secure safety, not only is the chairman not at the club making things happen, he’s not even in the area. Where’s Ashley? Why doesn’t he either appoint a media friendly chairman from the area or kick Llambias’ arse to move up here and start talking?
The only person we hear word from is Kinnear and half of us don’t believe him.
How did we get from 3 players bringing in £16mill, to 2 bringing in £4.5?… How did we get from 2 £6mill rated players being bought to just 2 on loan?
I like hearing what’s going on, but he’s said so many thing which havn’t happened or have changed the week after.

Regarding Lovenkrands, who has been released by Schalke 04, and his other potential recruits, Kinnear, who denied any interest in Nigel Quashie, the Birmingham City and Scotland midfield player, said: “It looks OK on Peter. I know his agent and he’s accepted an offer until the end of the season. There are two midfield players, one Argentine, one Italian. The loan fees for them are £350,000 and £400,000 until the end of the season because we weren’t in a position to pay what their clubs wanted to buy them.”

Think you could be onto something there. My opinions on JFK vary from time to time, but i do think he wants whats best for the fans, and wants to speak to us regularly so we know what is going on. Fact of the matter is, there’s a good chance he could be given changing information on a regular basis, and its making him look a little silly from time to time.

274 AndyNUFC // Jan 13, 2009 at 9:38 PM
My opinion on JFK vary as much as our supposed transfer dealings according to him, but i’ve always liked what he stands for.
I have never had a problem with Dennis Wise, not his fault he was given the job, and he’s the one who ultimately makes our signings possible. However, I am highly concerned with the contrast of communication and fan PR coming from Llambias compared to Mort. This is a problem which Ashley is supposed to take care of. Maybe Llambias is a great chairman, but unless he tells us what his and the club’s plans are then we can only judge him by his disappointing silence.

We’ve got one or two players, again because it’s an emergency situation at the moment, who we may be taking.”
“We’ve agreed a loan deal for two players, two expensive loan deals, again through the end of the season, because of the crisis we’ve got injury wise.”
“I’ll possibly know about these within 48 hours, and if that is AOK we may be in a better position for the Blackburn game.”
