As we had reported this morning , from a Brazilian Football web-site, Newcastle United have indeed won the race to sign 18 year-old Brazilian wonder kid Caio Ferreira.
Caio Ferreira – Brazilian wonder kid
Sky Sports are not reporting that Newcastle have indeed captured the 18 year-old, who traveled to a number of clubs earlier this month, but Newcastle have won the race to sign the youngster, with strong competition from other Premier League sides..
The player’s English representative Lee Payne has confirmed the deal is in place.
And by all accounts Joe Kinnear even thinks the young forward can help Newcastle in the next few weeks, as the team recovers from its crippling injury list, currently at 11 senior players out.
The young forward, who plays for Clube Atletico do Porto, has Italian ancestry, and is currently waiting on his Italian passport from the embassy, which would then allow him to play in England.
Joe Kinneasr has been in constant contact with the youngster, who will travel to Newcastle when his passport comes through, expected to be next week, and will sign a 3 year contract at St. James’ Park at that time.
The player’s English agent, Lee Payne told skysports.com this afternoon:
“The deal is done, and we are now just waiting on the documents in Brazil,”
“He is such a wonderful talent, I had no doubts after seeing him in Brazil that he would soon be on his way to England.”
“It took just a matter of days for a number of clubs to express an interest in him.”
“But Newcastle finalized a deal and he is very excited to be joining such a big club.”
This is great news, that we have indeed won the race for yet another top youngster, this time one from Brazil.
This will lighten the mood, just a little bit for Newcastle fans after our FA Cup disappointment last night, but if we can also get 22 year old Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia though the door, the mood will lighten even further.
Wishing and Hoping – as always.
Comments welcome.

Comment #401dan-i think we’ll maybe get Enrique and Carroll back at best. obviously players like Beye, Barton are no go’s. I could even see us lining up exactly the same as we did against Hull if im honest, with Charlie in at lb depending on enrique’s fitness. Doubt the midfield will change though. Probably start Carroll over Xisco aswell.

Comment #402Cacapa still has a good reputation in France. Won about 6 titles with Lyon. For a team like Rennes i imagine it would seem like a very good coup.

Comment #405cooldj-i reckon if Carroll is fit, he’ll start over xisco without doubt if im honest like. Joe really doesnt seem to want to have anything to do with him as far as the first team goes. he struggles to get a reserves game, its strange. six mil completly down the pan like.

Comment #406Would anyone liked to have seen Ranger last night instead of Xisco. I reckon he would have buried that chance he scuffed early in the first half.

Comment #407Norn Iron, I know what you’re saying – and fortunately for me I don’t have taunting Liverpool and Man U fan mates as I live in NY – but your team is just as good as their’s. It’s not just about success on the pitch. There’s a mentality that is all “success is all that matters”. I’ve mentioned it before, but a friend of a friend gave up supporting a Prem team (West Ham) t0 follow a 2nd division team. I don’t wish to do that because I love the Toon and the excitement higher divisions bring, but I still admire that. A lot of Chelsea fans, for example, are absolute knob ends – it doesn’t matter if they’re playing well on the pitch or have loads of money.
Plus, as Toon fans we should have more optimism. There is far too much moaning on this site!

Comment #408I went there on Wed and having seen Xisco in person i have to say he looks like a non-footballer. The lad though hadn’t played since October (not even reserve football) so what else can we expect.

Comment #412just out of interest Xisco has been named man of the match against hull by 34% on the official site. Good on ya lad! the guy for me has looked good, he scored in his first start then never played since. now he has had a decent game. surely he is worth a chance at 6 m.

Goodnight!
For those who are interested, Geremi and Lovenkrands deals to be comfirmed on Friday.
Mbia very keen to join although the club may have to increase their 5m offer, Lucas Neill also keen to join contact made with his Gateshead based agent Peter Harrison.
Loan signings likely to be confirmed over the weekend/Monday, behind closed doors training game arranged for Tuesday.

Comment #421Read into this what you like :
I noticed last night on the BBC’s extended version of JFK’s interview, at the end a journolist asks him if apart from Geremi could there be any other departures and Joe confirms this, then the interview ends!……….
Smith and Barton, possible Zog (although he will not be a priority due to his wages), i am starting to believe we are actually trying to ship both high paid stars out.
My initial reaction to the Smith / Mido story was no way. However both players made comment on it, which suggests they have heard something and not just from papers!
I also expect Pompey to bid 5 million for Barton. They aparently had 4.5 turned down for O’Niell at Boro and have cash burning away in his pocket, we all know he stated he would like Barton too!
Also in the mirror today theres an article about Wham being upset about Newcastle tapping up Niell!
Firstly Joes silly, stating he has spoken with the players agent on a live, recorded interview. I know its been a while since Joe’s been back in football, but surely he knows thats called ‘tapping up’!
However and the end of the article the Mirror claim that JFK has never seen M’bia play live and has only ever watched a number of videos on the lad, but confirms club scouts have seen him play live quite a bit…..
Does this suggest that Wise is still in control after all?
The Gomis rumour resurfaced yesterday too, again an apparent Wise target!
Like i say just thoughts.

Comment #422Clinta, by the looks of things he had impressed at a few places, and WBA especially were going to make an offer, but he was already in Newcastle by that point (according to the reports I’ve read).
Joey Barton SHOULD NOT be allowed to leave. Ashley should see some sodding sense and not sell him, no matter how much cash gets waved in hiw face (unless its about 10 million! Lol). Barton knows he owes us, he WANTS to play for us, and he was excellent for us until he met Cattermole. He added drive and fire in the central midfield spot, and should be retained!

Comment #423Proof the media know bollocks – from BBC –
Several media outlets were left red-faced after tipping Moldovan international Masal Bugduv as football’s next big thing only for it to emerge that the player does not exist – a web of blog postings had created the player out of nothing. (Guardian)

Comment #425Morning lads. Good night on the banter last night.
Anyway – anyone notice how David Craig became angry last night. Very out of character if you check his other posts over the last week or so.
Anyway. Stuck at work today and hoping for good news. I see Wham denied everything last night and now we are allegedly tapping up a player on a contract that is running out!!
Gonna jump on the journal website now for probably the same as we all know already.

Comment #426Journal reports that Kinnear to have x2 loan signings and Loventhingy in behind close doors training session and will then make decision.
Apparently one loan signing has been injured and needs to measure fitness before making a decision as havenot actually seen them play!!
Well there you go. Nowt we didnt already know from the Journal.

from the Journal:
Neill is contracted but, as he is in the last six months of his deal, he is free to talk to other clubs with or without West Ham’s knowledge – but only about a deal for next season.
So is this still tapping up ?

Check the club’s site later and you’ll probably see a statement withdrawing interest!!
