There are reports in Brazil that Newcastle United are about to sign a promising young forward called Caio Ferreira.
18 year old Caio Vinicius Feirreira – signing for Newcastle next week
Reports in Brazil, actually a web site in Brazil are claiming that 18 year old Caio Feirrara is to sign for Newcastle next week.
The news is that Ferreira will sign a three-year deal with Newcastle and and the lad carries an Italian passport, so a work permit will not be any problem.
Of course this will not be official until confirmed by the club, but we would hope this is true, and that the club is continuing to pursue good youngsters all over the world, and Brazil is not a bad place to be looking either.
There is some confusion caused by the presence of a younger striker currently at Benfica with the same name, and we don’t know too much about the youngster – so if any of our Brazilian readers know about this lad, maybe they can tell us more about him in the comments.
The youngster was interviewed on the web site and we have translated the interview from Portuguese as follows – Ferreira said:
“I never thought about working with these guys that I saw on TV.”
“During their training for example I look at one side and I see Owen.”
“I look at the other side and I see Martins. It’s very cool.”
Apparently the lad knows Claudio Cacapa at the club, and has already visited Newcastle, and it seems that Cacapa took care of him, as he continued:
“As yet I have no car, and he (Cacapa) takes me every day for training and invites me to go to his house. It is an expensive house.”
The documentation for the deal is expected to completed next week, and it seems that Joe Kinnear is anxious to get the boy over to Newcastle for good, and the manager keeps calling the youngster and asks that the attacker return to England as soon as possible.
“He (Kinnear) asked me to come back soon because it is every player hurting.”
“It seems that the team needs me.”
“They will hire a teacher for me.”
If Joe thinks the lad can help the team we assume he’s already a good player, and may be in the class of Charles N’Zogbia and James Milner, who were both signed at 18 years old, and went straight into the first team squad.
That’s all we know about the lad, basically from the web site, but it seems as though this is true, and we would expect an official announcement from the club next week, once he’s signed and all the paper work is complete.
