Kinnear – I’ll Hang My Hat On Mbia

Joe Kinnear is still more than anxious to sign Rennes midfielder 22 year-old 6’2″ Stephane Mbia, whom he compares to the great Patrick Vierra.

Stephane Mbia – still no word from Rennes?

But having bid £5m for Rennes’ Cameroon international Stéphane Mbia, United’s manager has no such concerns about a midfielder he likened to Patrick Vieira.

“I would hang my hat on him,”“Mbia has played (15) games for Cameroon, Rennes are up near the top (of Ligue 1), he is a great player, the nearest thing I’ve seen to Patrick Vieira.”

“He would be a big plus for us.”

Newcastle have had Stephane Mbia on the radar screen for a while and Everton and Middlesbrough have also been interested but a £5M bid for the player at this time, with things in such a mess economically,  may be too good a deal for Rennes to walk away from – hope so anyway.

Hopefully we’ll hear something about this deal in the next day or two, but we really have to hope it comes through, and other clubs are just not willing to pay out much money this January.

That could become a big advantage to the club, as long as Manchester City don’t want him.

Comments welcome.

Dreossi has also ruled out the possibility of a loan switch for M’Bia until the end of the season.

“There will be no arrivals or departures, nor any loans, even after the departure of Wiltord,” said Dreossi.

“We are not interested in the departure of any of our players.”

No one wants to sell in January unless you offer stupid money like Man City.

Mike will be pleased-puts wallet back in the safe-its going to be 3 loans. Though they might all get injured playing in the trial match.

Like I said in a previous blog, this is a bluff piece from The hierarchy at Newcastle.

We were never a chance at getting him, but it’s all for the start of Feb for them to say “hey we tried but no one was willing to sell in January”.

    Get used to it.

I said it yesterday Joe Kinnear telsl us exactly what Ashley and Co tel him to say. They must think we are all daft. Making bids that never stand a chance of being accepted, throwing out possible loan signings of international players What’s next Joe?

we may not get him but the clubs are bound to say no one is going anywhere.

Portsmouth said defoe wouldnt be going at first and look where he is now.

Keane wasnt leaving tottenham as far as they were concerned etc.

its the company line they have to take for the fans. they may well then say the offer was too good to refuse.

    Hang his hat on Mbia?

The powers that be ought to hang their heads in shame at such a [consistently] inept attempt at transfer negotiations!

Angryman I am on every day, but I will hold the line, I wont flap or fumble, I wont buckle and cry – on things I have no inside knowledge of.

Instead I will fight to support the club, live to love it and see positives while you and your Mob live to hate.

    Different mindset thats all.

Yeah and that mindset at relegation says.. “Gee how did that happen?”

Love positivity, but realism is much better.

This club would have a better chance if it were run by monkeys!
