Newcastle Have To Now Start Climbing The League

After the distinct disappointment on Wednesday evening, against an unlikely Hull City side, when they eliminated us from the FA Cup, we have to now to put that behind us now and try to do a lot better in the league, through the end of the season.

Nicky Butt – must press on in the league

Nicky Butt, one of the most experienced players in the Newcastle team has talked nufcTV, and the former England star said:

“To go out of the cup against Hull was a big disappointment for everyone and it was a game we should’ve won,”

“But that game has gone now and we can’t afford to think about it going into Blackburn.”

“It sounds easy to say but we’ve got to come out fighting and get a result.”

“They are one of the teams down at the bottom so it’s doubly important to come away with something.”

“We’ve been very good away from home recently. We’ve won at Portsmouth and got good draws at Chelsea and Middlesbrough.”

“Hopefully that continues on Saturday because we know how big a game it is.”

Good words from Nicky but we’re surprisingly not too confident we are going to get too much out of tomorrow’s game – but maybe that’s good and we may be surprised – on the positive – and we’d be ecstatic at a win, which we need after no wins in the last 5 games – so we may be due one.

We need wins in every league game we play, and since Blackburn is a full 5 points behind us in the league, and with an inferior goal difference, the very worst result would be a defeat, especially with Big Sam now the Blackburn manager.

We’ll just hope the lads will play their best, and have more luck than they had on Wednesday night – and we’ll see how we do.

Comments welcome.

Transfer rumours aside. -its back to the bread and butter – the premier league.

Blackburn will be up for a fight and they have been well rested – unlike us. Last time we played a rested side (Wigan due to Man U match being put back) they had us all over and won we easily.

Im praying, got he four leaf clover, stroking the rabbits root, not walking on crack, crossing on stairs or under ladders that we get 3 points.

God knows we need a lift. MO has got to find the net and he is missing easy ones.

With Carroll in height + Taylor + Bassong we will need it to intercept big sams long ball in the hoof it forward crap.

Unfortunately i’m writing off the Blackburn game as well.

Trying to stay positive and hopefully we’ll get a draw.

Its looking bleak at the moment.

Kinnear had said that he’d hope to have had players in before the Blackburn game. Thats not happened and the ‘new rumour’ is that we are waiting until Tuesday to make a decision on a few rejects!

Im a realist and thats why I said praying.

You can out whatever spin on it before the game – its the 90 mins + stoppage that you count your chickens on.

Draw minimum – and if we win – hell the Mrs will get sorted oot good style!!!!

Waste of a thread isnt that the whole point of being in the Premier league anyway?

Well done Nicky Butt for stating the obvious.

We need the fans to stay behind the team at this difficult time.

The above article speaks sense. At the moment there are a lot of transfer rumours causing a distraction and it is important to concentrate on getting the points we need to move up the table.

The club is involved in a relegation battle, but could end up in the frame for a European place with a string of good results. With no other competitions to distract the players, there is no reason why the team, with quality additions, can improve their form.

It is also important to remember that we have acquired a number of up and coming young stars such as Tamas Kadar, Nile Ranger and Ben Tozer who are now on the verge of making the breakthrough into the first team, and who should form the spine of the side for years to come.

See Benitez has reject Liverpools contract offer as he would not be fully in charge of 1st team affairs, he would have to answer to Rick Parry. Now where have we seen that before?

It seems like this new breed of owner doesn’t want their coaches involved with anything but getting the team ready for a match.

I’m willing to bet that once Taggart retires the Glaziers will do the same.

Here’s my mad Friday afternoon thought. New owners in the summer and Benitez in as manager as Liverpool tell him to get stuffed. 🙂

Like i have said before there are players that are available during the jan transfer window. You just have to be prepared to put bids in for them. Pennant and Fred going today for bargain prices yet we are not in for them. Why do we always dither.

    Dan_Scott157 –

The club is a complete laughing stock!

Even if we did bid for players(which blatently isn’t happening) who in their right mind would want to join the club?

We have Owen, Nzogbia and now it would appear Martins all wanting out!

But the most damming of all is the fact that Shay Given wants to leave! Now he has been through some shi*ty times here and yet he’s never uttered a word of wanting to leave. Until now that is!

Whatever anybody says on this blog, whether anyone claims to know what is going on, the biggest inidctment of this pathetic, meandering f00king regime is that players like Shay Given have had a enough and want to leave!

Given will know more than anyone on this blog with regards to where the club is going, so when I see comments on here saying Ashley is doing it right and running the club the best in a long while, just hava long hard think about why someone like Given wants OUT!

We are in real trouble and we need to get this man out of the club as soon as possible!!!!!

    Ashley OUT!!!!!

Stardust – I can see why they do it, but isn’t this of their own making? If managers weren’t sacked on a whim they would have someone who had been at the club for a decent amount of time and proven themselves, ie Wenger, Taggart. I would have thought that Benitez would have gained some trust with the owners. Actually saying that he is pretty rubbish with transfers and he’s been lucky enough to have Gerrard in the side. 😉

Stuart79 – Instability is a cause of Givens concerns – whether you like it or not – the reaction of Newcastle Fans and the general displeasure of speaking to them, playing in front of them at the moment may be a consideration too.

Until we are newcastle United again – the unstability will continue – irrespective of where the real blame lies.

Micky Toon – Agreed to the origins of the problem. But we have seen here at Newcastle more than anywhere the ability of the press (chasing sensationalist headlines) to whip the fans into a frenzy and bring clubs down to the ground. EG a run of 7 games in a row for JK now would see him gone such would be the fury of the fans.

I think in todays world its probably the only thing that can be done that insulates the clubs financially from those swings – thats why I buy into it – thereon if peoples egos are too big to make it work thats their problem.

Will ride this until Jan the 2nd at 5pm and then we will see what we will see.

We have 3 games between then and now and must do our best to bank points and prey to go that other results go our way. Its not simple though is it.

UNITED we stand DIVIDED we fall.

    We still follow UNITED

Toon Gream – Correct Divided we fall!

However, we are still in trouble if all the fans are united because the clb won’t be united as we’ll always be divided by the people running the club.

After Feb 2nd the relationship between fans and board will be totally non existant and there will be anger towards the board.

That will stop the club from being UNITED!

Latest bol***ks from, Puppet JFK is he has been offered a lucrative long term contract to stay beyond summer. He says he will sit down and talk about it then and also about reinvesting in the club in the sumer by Scrooge ashley. Is that a spin on saying we arent spending anything this window? The sooner they all f**k off the better, this is our club not a board game run by the dwarf and his fat pal from london.
Good luck for blackburn tomorrow, hopefully we will get three valuable points and pull a little further away from them.
