Newcastle had a good first half at Ewood Park this afternoon, after a fast start to the game. and at the break the score is tied at 0-0.
But if anything Newcastle have had more of the play, especially in the first 20 minutes, where the lads started the game very well.
England manager Fabio Capello is watching form the stands so a good time for Michael Owen to get a goal or two this afternoon.
Newcastle started well and after just 6 minutes Duff put in a good cross to near post where Andy Carroll beat New Zealander Nelsen to power in on goal, and it was a great effort form the 6’4″ local lad.
Then after 11 minutes Owen at the far post, turns in a decent shot on goal, but the ball is deflected away for a corner off Samba.
Newcastle had started well and they were placing some nice attractive passing football.
On 12 minutes, from a Guthrie corner, Andy Caroll, who is looking impressive wins the ball again and his header is bounf for the net but Keith Andrews jumps high to head away and prevent a certain goal.
Another great effort from Andy.
Then a Given kick downfield is nicely headed into the path of Michael Owen by Andy Carroll, but the captain dragged his effort across the penalty area.
After 30 minutes Blackburn came back more into the game but the Rovers side does not look all that steady and if the lads can increase the pace in the second half, and Andy Carroll, who has looked menacing in the first half, or Michael can get some luck, a win is potentially on the cards for the Magpies this afternoon.
After having no luck at all on Wednesday night we are due some this afternoon,. but the good news is the defense has looked very steady, and it’s a clean sheet so far.
And that’s about the state of things at half time – so far – so good.
