There has been lots of news recently about Geremi moving to Besitkas, and that the Greek side have bid £1.8M for the player, and Joe Kinnear even said last week the player was thinking it over with his wife.
Geremi – only knows what he reads – just like the rest of us
But it seems that Geremi has been told nothing by the club, about the possible deal, from what the player has told the Shields Gazette today.
If Joe Kinnear can use any money he gets in the transfer market, and the Besitkas bid is acceptable to the club, then how come Geremi has been told nothing formally by the club, and why isn’t Joe trying to push the deal through so he another almost £2M to spend in January?
It seems that Geremi has been told nothing by the club, and it just doesn’t seem to add up. We know the Board has never talked to the players about Keegan leaving, and all the strife that went on in September, October and November, when the players were apparently told no more than the fans, which was nothing.
This hardly reflects well on the way the club is being managed above Kinnear – and what exactly the players know about what is going on.
Remember that Dennis Wise has the responsibility for bringing in the players Joe wants, and for selling the players Joe doesn’t want.
Geremi told The Shields Gazette today:
“I only know what I read in the newspapers and what I hear from my friends, who have been calling me asking what is happening,”
“I have been linked with a few clubs, but I would say my future is here. Newcastle have not told me I am not wanted, and I do not know if they are trying to sell me.”
“What I know is that I want to play for Newcastle. I said when I signed (in 2007) that I wanted to complete my three years. When you are in football you know what you want.”
“I have no intention to move – I love the Premier League – but you can never say never. If the club say they don’t want me, then I would have to think about my future.”
Are we starting to be too picky in our frustrations? Or would you have expected Geremi to know more about the Besitkas deal than he seems to?
Unless of course the deal is just more made up nonsense in the local gossip papers – and of course we know that is always possible.
Well – hopefully all this will sort itself, but we have just 2 weeks left to get players in – and out.
Note that we have absolutely nothing to show for the first 19 days of the transfer window up to now, and yes, we’re sorry to have to keep saying that.
Comments welcome.

Harper is free to talk to other clubs at the min. He has 5 months left on his contract. Until he signs a new one then we cannot pin anything on him. It’s very possible he has had enough of Newcastle as much as most of the other players.

Comment #524Another thing as well. Kinnear said 6 weeks ago that Harper and Butt would sign new deals within 48 hours. Well…….why haven’t they.

Comment #525Any way a half decent artilce in todays Times.
Which quotes JFK at the bottom of the article.:
“I have to be aware of which direction the club wants to go in,” said Kinnear, who has offered Colin Calderwood, the former Nottingham Forest manager, a role on his coaching staff.
“There’s a fair amount of players we need at the moment and I want to make sure we’re in a position to do that. We need to look at the situation and say, ‘Where do we go from here?’”
It does unfortunately sound like we have a manager who has more questions than answers at the moment!

Comment #529Well if that’s what it says in The Sun then Given will probably end up signing a 2 year contract extension.

Comment #533I don’t mind selling Given, as long as Harper stays and we get good money. The biggest factor for me is that Joe has £10m to spend, say if we get £8-10m for Given. Joe should have around £20m to spend on players! But with Ashley like he did with the James Milner cash, the manager won’t see any of it!

Geremi came out and said today that he doesn’t want to leave. The Sun is garbage man. whatever they say the opposite is usually true.

Comment #537ryan-that was adil rami! The sun have him marked down as adil rama, proving they dont even research players before sticking our name with them. Some tube at the sun has just went
“ehh, some french lad they want apparently. Ramo? rama?…rama, thats it, adil rama”, and the brilliant journalist in question hasnt even bothered looking it up.
Shows how pathetic they are. Was it the mirror who wrote the story about blackburn and santa cruz but put our name in the headline? again, little or no attention paid to their job, ridiculous.
