Jose Enrique Played While Injured Against Blackburn

It looks like Joe Kinnear played Jose Enrique last Saturday when Jose was not fully fit.

Jose Enrique – played while injured last Saturday at Blackburn Rovers

And today Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear has taken some responsibility for Jose Enrique’s poor performance at Ewood Park last Saturday.

Joe told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:

“I brought Jose Enrique back in and he looked well off the pace.“He didn’t train all week but there was nobody else.”

“I could drop down to the youth team but we just aren’t blessed with cover in all positions.”

But either Steven Taylor or David Edgar can also play at left back – David was at left back when he scored that great goal against Manchester United two years ago.

So while both of them would prefer to play on the right, they can both do more than a decent job too at left back, but that’s another reason, if we didn’t have enough of them, that we need to bring in a left-back in January.

Kevin Keegan was saying that last May, and we still haven’t brought one in, mainly because of the complete ineptitude of the Newcastle Board, since the talented former Chairman Chris Mort left the club last May.

Comments welcome.

i have a feeling in my gut that alan smith will return as a new man and help shake up our side as he has always stood out in my mind as one of the few people who gives 100% effort every game. we cannot afford to lose people like him and joey barton

Enrique has had a fair few rubbish games, but when the lad has had a run of games he has looked decent.

I agree that Joke should not have played him if he was injured, but at least the lad made himself available whilst injured. How many other players would have played while carrying a knock??

Would like to see Kadar get some match time.

Ben – exactly – why wasn’t Kadar picked?
    He can play left back.

This club is really, really going down the shi**er so fast it’s untrue.

I honestly think we’ll go down this year, spend two season in the Championship, win promotion again and then Ashley will sell.
That, in three years time will be the begining of the second coming of the Toon.
We will be great again one day – but not while Ashley, Wise, Llambias and JFK are there.

i dont trust any oes opinions of players on this, cause everyone is so fickle on this! not the best a defeneding but very good attacking, still young and adapting.

Like the younger players would do better, when edgar played he did score but he looked really out ov place, then gave a way a pen against liverpool, but everyone said he was good.

Kadar wasnt choosed because Joe doesnt want to fight relegation with kids, evidently he think its better to play a injured player… thats what I think anyway.

I for one would welcome Smith back. Agreed that he hasnt been good for us so far but we need hes working-rate at the moment and I hope to see him in the role he had at Man United, in midfield that is.

I dont think we will go down but it will be very close. West brom and stoke will drop and you always have one team who hits a bad run of form and plumets down the table. All the teams down there are improving there squads i just hope the players dont gel.

Slightly off topic but does anyone here know anything at all about the finnish under-21 we have on trial? Jukka Raitala?

I’ve never heard anything about him.

Jukka Raitala (born September 15, 1988, Kerava, Finland) is a Finnish footballer, who represents HJK of Veikkausliiga, the Finnish premier division of football. Raitala is 181 centimeters tall and can play any defensive position. He is also a member of the Finland national under-21 football team and he is considered as one of the most promising young footballers in Finland. His contract runs out after 2009 season.

In the first part of season 2008 SpVgg Greuther Fürth scouted him in Helsinki. In October 2008, Finnish sport magazine IS Veikkaaja told that AEK Athens, AFC Ajax and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are also scouting him. In Greek Day News, Raitala stated that he is interested to move to AEK and that he is friends with AEK’s Perparim Hetemaj. The asking price was thought to be a half million euros.[1]

In November, West Bromwich Albion invited him for a test period after preparative negotiations with HJK. Raitala never did the trip and stated he does not want to risk playing time by moving. He wants to guarantee his place in the Finland’s 2009 Under-21 Championship team.

In January 2009, Newcastle United invited him for a week long trial with their first team. It was also informed that Udinese Calcio is watching his progress.

enrique gets a hard time coz he’s an easy target for a lot of idiots. i think he’s a lot more dependable at the back than people give him credit for. but then again its the same with taylor, he makes a few mistakes so we should sell him!! rio ferdinand made a lot of mistakes at their age and look at him now!! give the lads time, its not like we’ve got a queue of players wanting to come here ffs!! jose needs to improve his distribution and his concentration and he’ll be a top player for us, if he’s not hounded out by the idiots

Enrique is awful to be fair! Decent at best is nowhere near good enough for our club! I would expect so much more from a 6 million pound player & until we start buying players with premiership experience, rather than buying over priced foreign flops, then we will continue to struggle!

12 million for enrique and xisco!!!!

Need i say any more???….Probably not but i will anyway; had that 12 million been spent on players who had a proven pedigree in the PL then we would be in much better shape now!

F@cking terrible decision to buy both players!

“Were shit….& were sick of it…were shit…& were sick of it”…The geordies still had their sense of humour at the weekend at least!

    To Xisco Bicuits….”Idiots”????

Who are you to call me an idiot? I pay my money to go to st .james park; when i can i travel away from home and if i don’t feel that certain players are giving 100%or are not up to scartch then i will say so! He is completely and utterly w@nk! Fat Sam knew this and exploited him for what he is; a poor defender who is out of his depth!

I’d like to have seen you call some of the lads down at eawood park idiots to their face on sat; would have been quite amusing to see that happen! Everyone has an opinion; you pay your money; you have a right to your say! Just becuase i dont agree with you doesnt mean i think your an idiot; maybe just partially sighted!!!

Enrique gets more stick than he deserves, he is a DECENT LB, improving and young.

However, this shows more idocy from Kinnear, playing an injured player, that has got to be a cardinal sin. Play some youth! Its only 1/2 games!

i have a very bad feeling about this season.

    from nufc.com
Confirmation that at this point in the season, we’ve:

    * Never been lower in the Premier League table
    * Never recorded as few Premier League victories
    * Never had as few Premier League points

NUFC Premier League record after 22 games:

    1993/94: 36 points, 5th, 10 wins, 6 draws, 6 defeats

    2000/01: 31 points, 8th, 9 wins, 4 draws, 9 defeats
    2001/02: 42 points, 1st, 13 wins, 3 draws, 6 defeats
    2002/03: 39 points, 4th, 12 wins, 3 draws, 7 defeats
    2003/04: 33 points, 5th, 8 wins, 9 draws, 5 defeats
    2004/05: 26 points, 13th: 6 wins, 8 draws, 8 defeats

    @ KEVIN NIC

i wasnt calling YOU an idiot, i was stating a fact that many of the people who tell me enrique is hopeless are idiots, and many of them dont even watch the games!! sam didnt exploit him at all to be fair, and if he thinks so little of him why did he sign him and play him?? first goal was a mistake from our right-back, second was hesitation from the centre-backs, and the 3rd…again came down our right. maybe enrique could’ve been closer to roberts when the ball came in but the lad was knackered at this stage and the game was dead. seems like he’s maybe an easy target coz he’s spanish…

i pay my money to support the lads, especially young lads like him who have had the balls to make a move to a foreign country at a young age, and he’s trying hard to adapt and learn the game and he never complains. unfortunately some people only see the bad parts of the games he’s played. i thought he was our best defender against west ham, and valencia got nowt out of him at wigan either
