Newcastle Reported After Bolton’s Danny Shittu

Breaking news this morning that Newcastle are being linked with Bolton’s Nigerian center-back Danny Shittu, who wants to leave the Lancashire club.

Danny Shittu – wants to leave Bolton Wanderers

The former Watford defender has been told he can look for a new club, probably on loan at this stage.

Shittu, 28, who stands 6’3″ tall, spent the summer talking to a number of clubs eager to sign him from Watford, before he settled on a £?2M move to the Reebok Stadium.

Shittu started his career at Charlton Athletic in 1999, and then went to Blackpool (loan – 17 appearances, 2 goals), Queens Park Rangers (169 appearances, 17 goals), Watford (69 appearances, 8 goals) and since the summer Bolton Wanderers, who he’s played for just 5 times.

Danny has played 14 times for the full Nigerian National side.

Shittu has said he wants to leave Bolton for regular football somewhere else:

“I am very disappointed because all I want to do is play.”

“I am 28 years of age and I feel I am too old and experienced to be sitting on the bench and not be part of it.”

“I want to be playing week-in, week-out. I feel when I have played for Bolton I have done OK.”

Sunderland are also interested, and probably more so than Newcastle.

And the obvious question for Newcastle fans is a player who cannot get his game at Bolton of suitable quality for Newcastle?

We don’t think so.

There is also breaking news this morning that Newcastle have accepted a £14M bid from Man City for Shay Given.

But the move is supposedly being held up because Michael Johnson, who’s part of the deal, does not want to move to Newcastle.

The deal is said to be for £8M plus Johnson.

    Useless halfwits.

As I asked before – Shit who? If Johnson does not want us then we do not want him. Simple.
It does look as though Shay is moving on soon.
If Man City up the bid and Johnson remains in Manky our little Wise man will sell for the biggest dollar. What a shite!

Tell Johnson that Newcastle has more pubs per square mile than any other British city.

    He’ll come running!

I expect to hear news on skysports by the end of the day regarding Given tbh. Do we really want to take Johnson if he isn’t that keen, would rather have the £14m cash and use it elsewhere rather than waste £6m on a player who doesn’t really want to come but maybe forced to.

This is simply indeceisiveness from NUFC. Just not taking the decison in fear of a bad decision wil simply land us in championship.

I think the Given story is going to happen…

We have re-called Krul from Carlisle.

lets see if we spend any of the cash for Given or if Fat Ash spends it on himself, reclaiming the money he paid out to remove our debts…

I think Fat Ash will keep all the money that is made via outgoing players. And as Kinnear is still thinking whether or not to pay £10m for Mbia or not, the transfer window will close with no new faces coming in.

As previous people have said the £5m bids have simply been a smoke screen, so they can say “Well we tried, but they were unwilling to sell”.

I cant even see us signing that Lovenkrands gadgy either, as Joke seems to have gone quiet on that one recently.

As i have said before, I am waiting to be proven wrong.

Cannot take it seriously that we want to sign somebody who is no better than a chanmpionship player. Would much prefer Kadar to get a run in the side that this obviously not very good defender. As for Johnson good player what he is if he doesn’t want to come then look elsewhere.
If Shay goes then so be it but please Krul has to be first choice there is no future with Harper.
The Sulky french N’zogbia can also go. In fact find a club that wants him and I’ll drive him there.

its a shame johnson doesnt want to sign because i think hes a class act. even though i dislike barton, i think the two of them could form a really good partnership, it would be steely and reliable, something we havent had since gary speed and rob lee.
