Oba Martins Back For Sunderland Game

It looks like German surgeon Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck, has worked her wonders again, this time on Newcastle United striker Oba Martins.

Oba Martins – could be back for Sunderland game

The Newcastle club were finally handed some good news today when they discovered that Oba Martins could be fit in time to face Sunderland on February 1, which is turning out to be a do or die game for Newcastle.

Joe Kinnear said today:

“Oba started training flat out yesterday, and it’ll be great to have him back in the team.”

“He’s had this niggling groin injury, but it’s out of the way now, and he should be back for the Sunderland game.”

“Danny’s certainly out of the Man City game, but we are waiting for the outcome of a scan.”

Martins underwent a hernia operation on January 12 after visiting the German clinic of world renowned specialist Dr Ulrike Muschaweck.

The woman surgeon uses her rapid recovery techniques that include local anaesthetic to get sportsman back very quickly from hernia related operations, and it looks like that will happen with Oba too.

In fact we wouldn’t at all be surprised if Oba is actually fit for the Man City game next Wednesday.

However, Guthrie’s hamstring trouble couldn’t have come at a worse time for the manager, since Nicky Butt has had himself suspended – again – for the trip to Eastlands, following his red card at Blackburn.

Solution?   Hey, here’s an idea – maybe we should sign a central midfield player before next Wednesday – and that will be just 5 days before the end of the transfer window – wouldn’t that be a solution – or are we missing something?

We wonder if the club have thought through that one?  😀

Comments welcome.

if we loose the derby we are relegated imo

coz i cant see many people taking it lightly

which will then filter to the players and the club will be in as much turmoil as ever

Fantastic! Though he has his off-games, to me he’s the most important player in the team. When others are huffing and puffing, Martins is often a bundle of unpredictable energy, will let shots fly from anywhere and give us cutting edge when he’s on form.

About Given, by the way, I hope that if he is sold JK doesn’t go off on one and quit. The last thing we need is a rudderless ship again. And personally I feel we are just as safe with Harper. Given is a great gk but there are still times when I’m thinking “uhmmm…Harper could have saved that”. If he became number 1 he’d probably get more and more confident.
If Man City are prepared to offer at least 1 good mf in part-exchange (or possibly defender) and a sizeable chunk of wonga we should do the deal.

Well thats is good news aint it. Hope he isnt rushed back and ends up knacking himself more!

Loven been offrd eh? Well come on sign sign on that line and lets see you in your black and white and what you can do for us.

As said ages ago when he first arrived by link to NUFC – if he does sign – he judge him on what he can do on the pitch now – not before.

Thinks looking up – not likely – were still knacked with Guthrie being out. Barton & Geremi in the mid or poss Barton and Loven?

Who knows – still more needs doing.

We’ve really missed Martins – he’s our best injection of pace and he can distract 3 defenders at once, which is what Owen needs.

    Some good news at last!

Good news at last, but sadly if Wise has his dastardly muttly way we may see Shay playing against us. Great to have the sparkling play of Oba back at last. Butt and Guthrie out? Well we have Barton and Zog do we not?
Anyway what is wrong with LuaLua having a go there from the start? Need you back Oba!!!

Can’t see Lovenkrands playing as a centre mid. He’ll be out on the wing or up front I would imagine.

Lovenkrands had better be a start of things to come and not the sum total of our expenditure. We need to grab him, Raitala, the rest of the trialists if they are good enough, as well as some senior players, especially a central/defensive midfielder. If we don’t start protecting our back four, then we are doomed. Our back four can perform wonders, but how can they possibly defend with the turnstiles we are playing in front of them in central midfield!

we havent offered lovencrands a deal yet. jfk said he was very impressed and has told shitface lambiarse he wants him – its now with him to sort out the money. so in my thinking, it means we will not get him. our club and spending money do not go at all.

great news about the oba coming back.. we need his speed and agression up front. owen needs to drop back into the hole again in my opinion too. it worked very very well before jfk so why he has had to fcuk with it i have no idea. duff, barton, smith and jonas through the middle with owen in the hole nad martins and carroll up front. bench zogs and given and play harper in goal. givens head is elesewhere and he now represents the past.

I think Stoke away will be more difficult than you think. I would take a draw there. As for Spurs we should be going there expecting at least a point since they have not nothing to show that they are a better side than us. I would also say we should be beating the Mackems and Portsmouth at home. Other than that i think your about right.

jonas is overated by a lot of people on here, yes he is decent running at defenders, tracks back and grafts his ars off, but he cannot cross, doesnt score, and his shooting from around the egde of the box is terrible but sayin that he is still one of our best players but hes not the superstar a lot of people make him out to be

    I hope well play

    ………………Harper
    Taylor…Collo….Bass…Enrique
    …Jonas…….Barton…..Duff
    ……………..Owen
    ……..Carroll…Martins

Bench: Krul, Lua Lua, Edgar, Ranger and whoever is half fit or we sign

    Charlies Tranfers

Given out to Man C for no less than 14 mill cash or 9 and Johnson. They can afford it.

Send Zogbia to Chelsea (who need a left winger with Cole out) in exchange for Alex who I’ve read wants out. From what I have seen he seems a decent fullback. Whether he would want to come is another matter entirely.

Offer Zenit 15 mill for Arshavin using Given money and 10 mill kitty.

Send Xisco back home for 4 mill.

    Geremi somewhere for 1.5 mill.

In 14.5 mill and Johson, Alex, Arshavin
Out 15mill and Given, Zogbia, Geremi

Still got 9.5 mill for his youngsters and one of his original targets and we get 4 to 5 players in. We have some quality young wingers that should get a chance

milner scored 6 goals ave for us per season. he has scored more than that already with vile. duff has scored for us this season and them goals won us the game. zogs if you read my posts – i would bench all the time jsut cos of his arse attitude towards the team. milner IS better than jonas, no doubt in my mind. even capello said he is the future of the england footy team. ok, maybe i am an idiot but are you saying capello is. when i say jonas has no goals in him, i relaly mean he has no goals – he has scored something like 2 goals in nine years or something like that. he is flashy but for me, falls short. a good squad player but thats it. he owuld not start over lovenkrands for me.

Didn’t we go through the same kind of run last season when kk returned, I think it took him about 10 games to get his first win? Once that came and then quickly followed by another then the confidence returned. I reckon if we can get a couple of wins under our belts then who knows.

A lot of people are already resigned to relegation. I for one will keep believing we will stay up until we are officially relegated. Look at Fulham last season, they were all but relegated with all the experts thinking so and they turned it around.

Keep the faith people, what else can we do!
