Lovenkrands Becomes The First One Through The Door

It’s the 23rd day of the transfer window and Newcastle have made their first signing official by capturing Peter Lovernkrands on a free transfer.

Peter Lovenkrands – delighted to be at Newcastle United

The 28-year-old Danish international Peter Lovenkrands has impressed during a two-week trial on Tyneside and today he signed a deal through the end of the season, but obviously is motivated to do well, so he can get an extended stay on Tyneside.

Peter also has a Scottish wife, so it’s a good location for him and his family.

The forward, who still had great speed, and whom Bobby Robson thought he had signed back in 2000, will wear the number 24 for Newcastle, and could make his debut in our important game at Manchester City next Wednesday.

Lovenkrands spoke to nufcTV from the St.James’ Park boardroom, and says that he cannot wait to get down to action.

“I’m delighted to sign a deal until the end of the season,”

“I now just can’t wait for my debut at Man City next week.”

This could be a very good signing for us, because the news from the training ground, is that he’s a good player and can offer Newcastle something up front, and of course financially, it’s another great deal for the club.

But hopefully this will be just be the start, and Joe Kinnear hads again said he wants to sign a defender in the next couple of days, so we have to believe that’s the Finland U21 starlet Jukka Raitala, who many clubs are after, and who is currently on trial at Newcastle this week.

We also think Jukka would be an excellent signing, and he’s a youngster who’s just 20 years old, and in a position we must strengthen in January – left back – so hey, if we can secure Jukka in the next two days we could well be on our way.

Let’s hope we are, because the clock is ticking and there’s now only 10 days left of the transfer window, and we also need to strengthen the defense more, and bring in a top class central midfielder – at least.

Comments welcome.

Thank gawd for that… I was beginning to think we’d been misled into thinking there’d be no signings thsi window.

So all that neqgative press was a smokescreen eh?

And the question’s been asked before…. just what is that over-sized egg cup looking thing in the sideboard?

    Lets hope he proves himself.

The opportunity for him is massive.

    My question is this:
Should I take next week off work?

I think he is a worthwhile signing. Not far for his missus to pop home to see mammy and pappy either. On another tack what is this blurb about Bobo Balde being a target. Media crap? He is 33 now anyway. Does his agent work in the Daily Mail press room? It is in a paper called the Herald. Scottish?

No its a drivel catcher – Llambias holds it under his mouth at board meetings as he tries to speak. Fat Freddie used to use it in board meetings before that – but then it was called a sh*te catcher lol

Good-ish news, although despite every manager since stig of the dump saying we need defenders, we buy another striker! I see Hull have gone for Bullard, and Wigan gone for Hunt. I’m still sticking with my woeful prediction of 1 permanent signing and 2 loans. (said back in november lol)

The ‘signing’ of the Dane at least gives us the option of loaning up to 2 players.

I’d take 1 permanent and 2 loans at the moment!

1st of five new faces in…

1 more over the week-end & three on the 2nd of Feb, two of which will be loan deals.

    Shay & Charlie will depart.

It’s easy writing as if you actually know facts (ala David Craig) however the above is just my opinion…

About time ……. What a suprise the clubs accounts have been published during the transfer window. …. That doesnt change the facts that the Team/squad is simply not good enough ….. To many over paid under skilled players that we carnt do much about until the summer i.e ….. viduka, butt, cacapa, ameobi, xisco, smith, geremi, but if we dont find some money for signings AND QUICK ….. the next set of results will be worse !! Attendances down to 46/47000 …(and thats now in the premier) and the very real chance of being relegated ….. What would the attendances be if god help us we were relegated ???? but more than ever now WE ALL NEED TO BACK THE TOON TO THE HILT IN THE RUN IN ……. STARTING WITH THE MAN AT THE TOP MA,…….. HO WAY THE TOON !!!!

It’s a collection cup in the photo. Derek has been going round the town in his role as dumbe mute and collecting charity funds with the intention of paying for Pete’s wages for the remainder of the season.

Derek actually talks through some highly technological equipment attached to his eyebrows. Notice how they seem raised more often than not. That can be interpreted by the Eyebrowator as “I don’t know how to do this”.

Well at least we FINALLY have a replacement for Milner, be good to see how he goes in the premiership.

    BUT we still need…

    LB, CM, AM, RB(Back up)

And thats if we dont loose any players being sold e.g. Zogbia and Given.

    Would love us to..

    Sell:
    Given – 5m + Johnson + Onouha
    Zog – 8m

    Then have 10m + 5m + 8m = 23m

    Buy:
    M’bia = 8m
    Remy = 7m
    winger ?
    and
    LB ?

    so

    ———————Harper———————
    –Beye——Colo—-Bassong——–Onouha
    –Jonas——M’bia—Johnson——Duff—-
    ————–Martins—-Owen/Remy—-

    NOT bad at all

Not wanting to sound like an idiot, but where ont he park does loverkrans normally reside?

    we need replacements for:

Butt (too slow, doesnt know how to pass forward,…..
Taylor (Sorry guys, defence looks more shakey when he plays)
Froggie( or zoggie as he is know …. go moan somewhere else)
shola(cant believe we extended his contract)
    Duff( = headless chicken)
    Geremi( just plain useless)

dont want to get rid of given, but he deserve a shot at trophies, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more loyal player in the country! so any deal over 10mill need to be considered, for the club sake(buy more outfield players) and the player sake( reason outlined above)

but offcourse this wont happen as the board will need to pump in more money to replace all of the above, and we all know the score there
