Albin Ebondo Next Through The Door At Newcastle

Good news today in the transfer market as the defender Joe Kinnear has been talking about signing soon is Toulouse right-back Albin Ebondo, and he is expected at the club today to discuss personal terms.

Albin Ebondo – in Newcastle today to discuss terms

If he’s coming to Newcastle to discuss personal terms we must have already made an agreement with Toulouse on the price, so we think this shows at least the club is moving along, with a short 7 days to go in the transfer window.

The Newcastle Journal is saying that a Newcastle delegation was in France over the weekend to thrash out a deal with Toulouse for Ebondo, and a fee of around £3.5M is the figure thought to be being paid by the Newcastle club.

Toulouse star Ebondo, who was born in Marseilles, France, is 24 years old, and would give Newcastle some cover at right-back when Habib Beye finally returns from his injury.

Ebondo has played 86 times for Toulouse with one goal and is a former France Under-21 International and stands at 5?11? tall.

He looks more than a decent player from what we can tell, and is the type of player we want to see the club keep signing.

And there is also news that Newcastle are getting closer to agreeing a deal for a central midfielder, thought to be Rennes’ Stephane Mbia,

Joe Kinnear said today:

“A team from Newcastle has been over there talking to the club and the player and we’re confident he’ll be here on Monday,”

“We will work right until the final minute of the final day of the window to bring in the players we want.”

“We are working around the clock to get the players we need but it’s not an easy time of the year to do business and it’s been hard work.”

“But I do feel as though we are getting somewhere and if I can bring in the two players we’re close to agreeing deals for then I’ll be feeling a lot happier about the state of the squad.

“I identified Albin Ebondo when I went to see Toulouse play a few weeks ago and he will be an excellent player for us, I’m confident about that.”

“Hopefully he’ll be here on Monday and in training with the rest of the squad straight after that.”

“With Habib Beye still on crutches and likely to be out of action for at least another couple of months we desperately need a right-back.”

“We’ve asked Steven Taylor to play there in the last few games and he’s been struggling with a calf problem and has needed pain-killing injections just to get out on to the pitch.”

“That’s not been fair on him or us.”

“People haven’t fully appreciated the plight we’re in. We’re getting on with things the best we can and the new players will give us a lift.”

This will be good news to Newcastle fans especially since it looks like we are also close to agreeing a deal for Rennes Stephane Mbioa.

Howay The Lads!!

Whats that i can smell in the air? its a smell i recognise but can’t put my finger on it…is it….optimism?!
If we get these two in then I can see our side improving quite dramatically, I’ve always felt newcastle have been a couple of players of being a good side, but we’ve always gone for strikers instead of players like this who actually free up space on the pitch for others to attack.

Lets hope this is the first of a few like. I’d be happy with Ebondo McManus Mbia. If we end up gettin a player in the given deal too like johnson or Def (cant spell his name you know who i mean) then this will not have been a bad window. I think we should get rid of Zogs & buy Darren bent too Owens replacement.

notaghostintoon- Bearing in mind you have seen neither play, how can you say that they will dramatically improve the team. Both will have to adapt to the prem and a new country. Kinnear would be better off signing players used to prem football imo.

I somehow doubt he’d be saying that much if it was his usual crock of shite. When he’s talking bollocks, he usually doesn’t put a time scale on it, he just goes on about having bid for a player. Now he’s saying he hopes to have them by Monday, and that we’ve had a team over there trying to work out a deal, rather than just saying a bid’s been lodged and we need to wait and see.

With the risk of speaking too soon, is Jan’26th the day our transfer window was finally thrown wide open 🙂

With Lovenkrands already here on a very good deal.

There is strong talk of a new and welcomed RB coming to our squad in the name of Abil Ebondo. Dont know much about him and it will be interesting where he plays when one of our better players returns in Beye.
For me the RB slot has overtaken the LB as a priority, despite Enriques inconsistency. (By the way again fits the Ashley signing mould, puts to bed the Quashie etc rumours)

JFK is also making noises (pinch of salt again in hand) about a bid for a midfielder bid about to be decided……prehaps the long sort after M’Bia. A midfielder i would love to have in our side, playing him along side Barton and Guthrie would give us a real workmanlike midfield and give that fragile line we call defence a helping hand.

As well as the two ‘expected’ signings there are still tentative stories about Celtics McManus being looked at. Again if we could sign this old fashioned CB /LB it would give us more versitility at the back and the one ingredient imo we are missing, leadership!

Sad news will be the sale of Given, but the silver lining could be our new number 1, Steve Harper signing a new contract.
Not to mention a Man Citeh player coming our way…..would love Sturridge.

I’m dreaming but would be over the moon if we signed:
    Lovenkrands
    Ebondo
    M’Bia
    McManus
    Sturridge
and……..Harper (prehaps the most important signing of the window?)

I’m smiling for now and of course when i wake from my sleep typing will run the risk of being disappointed once again by my club!

Fine player, right age and the price seems sensible. Great signing if this goes through, but I’m waiting till the dotted line is with a name on it.

If we also get Mbia in before the window closes we should be quite happy. Still no new left back though…

Because the players we’ve already bought in under this regime have adapted well, bassong and gutierrez especially but even collocini compared to a lot of foreign exports hasn’t done badly at all. Premiership experienced players cost a lot more and are harder to find if you limit yourself to that. Also every player has to start their premiership experience somewhere. Ultimately i don’t know, but i have faith.

Looks like good news today then? The Mirror Mirror on the Shitehouse wall is selling Shay Given to Man City today, so THEY say anyway.
A pity if its true and a great loss. But all things considered, if he is looking for success, why Man City? Come on Harper. Come on local lad. Step up and take your chance because you will not let us down. Show the Italians you are good enough for the England jersey. What next?

This can only be seen as good news for us.

Im sure I read somewhere that Harper poss signed new deal?? Sure someone will correct me.

Looks as though Given is off. The writing is on the wall.

Im probably gonna get shot for this but today I bought a half season ticket. It works out cheaper for me until the end of the season to buy individuals.

Im not bothered about buying it as I want to be there until the end of the season and support my team and at the end of the day – it my money anyway.

So im now a bonifide season (albeit half) ticket holder and will be there until the end to support the team. Who ever is left anyway!

Despite being one of those calling for more updates from the club, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’d prefer JK to be talking about transfer signings in the past tense. So far, not much of what he’s said will be happening has come off. No matter how concrete it all sounds in this statement.

If you where a Team we had any interest in then I could understand you wasting time on here…but nobody on here gives a Flying toss about spurs..they are in a similar boat to us but yours is just way too expensive and very overrated.

Also whats happened to the i hand a list to Dennis Wise and Dennis does the signings system?
We should be identifying targets for next season now. When Arsenal go after a player thay watch him for 6 months before making a decision.

A.O AKA PooperTrooper must surely be watching a different side to the one he always boasts about..watched them a couple of times recently and they are pap.

Seems all they do is pay over inflated prices but nothing clicks.
