Newcastle Bid £4.5M for Italian Midfielder

There is news today in Firenzeviola that Newcastle have made a £4.5M bid for Fiorentina midfield player Marco Donadel.

Marco Donadel – 25 year old Fiorentina midfield player

The report in the Italian press today says that Newcastle have bid £4.5M for the 25 year-old Italian midfielder, who has been at Fiorentina since 2005, after being a graduate of the AC Milan Youth sides.

He has played 95 times for Fiorentina (3 goals) and 31 times for the Italian Under-21 side and stands 5’11” tall.

Marco Donadel was born in April of 1983 in Conegliano, Province of Treviso, Italy, and he began his career at AC Milan in 2000.

He was loaned out to a succession of clubs, including Lecce, Parma, Sampdoria and Fiorentina over the next four years or so.

After a successful half-season long loan with Fiorentina, the Viola signed him on a permanent basis.

He was the captain of the Italy under-21 team, and won the 2004 European Under-21 Football Championship with Itasly, and he also won a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics football tournament.

The report says that Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear has been interested in the player for some time, and it remains to be seen whether the bid will be accepted by the Italian club based in Florence, Tuscany.

Very interesting, and that’s about all we know about the player.

Can anybody based in Italy give us an update on Marco?

Comments welcome.

wtf? as in the who the…

goals to game ratio is less than impressive so I’m guessing he’s a defensive mid?

Well safe to say, we all pretty much know nowt about him so lets just see what happens eh, but, since we obviously dont have much money to spend, ie we need to be ultra careful who we buy, i cant see us wasting money on crap!

“Ora resta da convincere il giocatore, non troppo convinto di accettare il trasferimento in Premier.”

According to my Italian mate this bit means he’s not too convinced about the move.

As revealed by Violanews.com, Fiorentina and Newcastle have reached an agreement for the midfielder Donadel. There is talk of numbers around 4 million. Now it remains to be convinced of the player, who is not too convinced to accept the transfer to Premier

I think the Italian translation from the player when asked if he wanted to go was – “vafanapoli!!!”, so perhaps the reluctance is mutual.

    Ok cheers mate.

The lure of the premier league and a small increase in wages will sort him out good and proper. I would rather we went for a midfielder in the M’Bia mould, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers eh
