Calderwood Will Help Newcastle In Any Way He Can

Colin Calderwood has already started to coach at Newcastle, after helping Joe Kinnear and Chris Hughton prepare the lads for tomorrow night’s tough game at Manchester City.

Colin Calderwood – got right down to work yesterday

Colin was fired from his position as manager of Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, and he seems very pleased to get right back into the action again, and has signed up to coach at Newcastle United through the summer.

Colin said today:

“It was the size of the club and the level that they are playing at which attracted me to the role,”

“This is a division which I have not been involved in for nearly five seasons now.”

“Also the chance to get back out on the training pitch and coaching again is something which is in my blood and I jumped at the opportunity to do so.”

“I’ve just been watching the boys and assessing things so far but I can’t wait to get joined in, do a couple of sessions and get to know the boys a bit better and shout and holler a little bit.”

“I’m here to give Joe and Chris a hand in any way they want to use me so I’m looking forward to it.”

“It’s a new experience and I really want to get my feet and hands dirty.”

Calderwood was a player at Tottenham Hotspur when Chris Hughton was the first-team coach at White Hart Lane, and it looks like Chris had quite a bit to do with bringing Colin to help coach the first team squad on  Tyneside.

Colin continued:

“I’ve had a relationship with Chris for a number of years and I was a player at Spurs and then on the coaching staff while he was there,”

“He played a big part in bringing me here so I’m delighted to work with him again.”

Colin has been brought in to work with Newcastle’s defense, a tough job for any coach.

But we just have to get the defense starting to register some clean sheets again, after we have conceded 12 goals in our last 4 league games, and 3 goals to Blackburn our last time out.

Tomorrow night’s game at Eastlands will hardly be an easy one, but we just have to start picking up points if we are going to survive in the top league this season.

Tomorrow night is as good a time as any to start doing just that.

Comments welcome.

Is this really something that he should be shouting about…? Sounds a bit gay to me…. 🙂

I would “help in anyway” I could and I’m going to need work soon. Do you think they might give me a job?

I see the Chronicle are going to have Q&A sesh with the top brass…..my straightforward and fairly succinct offering will break with tradition when I ask quite simply “Seriously lads, what the **** is going on?!?!?”.

Jose Enrique is also set to be sacrificed to make way for Celtic captain Stephen McManus, who is expected to join the Magpies next week in a swap deal. Celtic want an extra £4 million from Newcastle, but the cash-plus-player offer could be reduced to Enrique and £2 million

    outrageous article !

He is better than any keeper you have, you muppet FFS i dont think i have ever met a BIGGER PR!CK in my life!!

Why dont you go to your Spud blog & celebrate the fact that you sell all your best players then re-sign them for double the money & wages you MUPPET or the fact that you are only the 4th biggets club in London,There is NO POTENTIAL at spurs of one day being the best, there are too many PROPER football clubs in that area for Spuds to even get a sniff

P.S when was the last time you mounted a title challenge??? hmmmmmmmm O yes NEVER EVER & NEVER WILL

Given is not in Manchester, he won’t play in any part in the Man City game, Given is scheduled to meet Man City reps on Thursday at which time Newcastle will be talking to a Man City player as part of the deal. Wise is meeting that players agent tomorrow night in Manchester and looking for the player to travel to Newcastle on Thursday.

david craig- If newcastle sign a player on a permanent deal i shall never return to this blog again. I am that confident (after an email i just recieved about a deal falling through) that nothing will now happen.
