Newcastle Reserves Team Manager Richard Money has called on his young stars to reproduce the spirit that was shown in beating local rivals Sunderland away 2-1 last week.
Richard Money – has great team spirit in Reserves side
The young Reserves side emerged victors last week with goals from Nile Ranger (who else?) and Jonny Godsmark in a 2-1 success at Hetton-le-Hole.
The win marked Newcastle’s 3rd win on the trot and experienced coach Money thinks the improved results are due to an ever growing team spirit in the Reserves dressing room.
Richard told nufcTV today:
“There’s a great spirit among the lads at the moment and results and performances have shown that,”
“But that’s a testimony not just the lads but to the staff they have surrounding them.”
“We have tried to instil a good work ethic and that is evident in every game we play.”
“They’ve set a real good standard and hopefully that continues.”
“Any game against Man City will always be tough but we’re in a good run and the boys are playing with a lot of confidence.”
Man City are second top of the Barclays Reserve League which looks like this right now:
Tuesday’s game is a 7pm kick-off at Ewen Fields, Hyde, and we’ll have a report on the game.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Go on lads. Come on Smith score your first NUFC goal.
Players with ambition are dangerous to the opposition. Read that somewhere.
Lets hope its true of Smith and Loven and any other new signings we get.
Howay NUFC 6 days 4 hrs and 41 mins to go!

Comment #2I thought Richard Money was leaving to manage some lower league club. He seems like he’s doing an excellent job bringing youngsters through through; just hope JK starts blooding them in the first team.

Comment #3cicero- i think he is hanging around to manage newcastle once they are relegated rather than uprooting his family to manage a team already in the lower divisions.

Comment #4The youngsters are the one shining light at the Toon these days.
How long before thay all get poached by bigger clubs though?
That would fit into Fat Boys long term plan for the club I think.

Comment #6Surely though northernpaul, buy young, cheap, good, make money on them, spend that money on new young good cheap players (same amount as sold) then use the remaining money on the first team. Rinse and repeat.

Comment #11sick of hearing about youngsters, we have a youth policy buy loads of them then leave them out of the first team and buy Enriques and Xiscos.
What about Lua Lua and Edgar, absolutely no advance has been made in the youth policy at Newcastle since Roeder left, he should be the director of football at Newcastle as he has an eye for talent and brought Martins in, probably one of the best signings we have had, the players are too young?? Roeder played them two years ago.
Some youth policy we have.

Comment #12I have been thinking a bit about the rumours, and if we allow ourselves to beleive they are true just for the fun of it, then it could look like this…
Selling
Owen 5 mill
Given 12 mill
Zog 5 mill
Dukes 1 mill
Geremi 1 mill
total 24 mill adding to that the alleged 10 mill given by MA giving us 34 mill
It makes sense, since GK is a position we are storng in and Given wants a new start elsewhere. Owens contract is running out and we’re all sick of Zog.
Incomming rumours:
Keane 18 mill
Strurridge 2 mill
Johnson 2 mill
M’Bia 8 mill
Ebondo 3,5 mill
Janko 6 mill
Donadel 4,5 mill
Shorey 3 mill
Pennant 3 mill.
Sell Given to City for 10 mill + Johson… Sell Owen to Liverpool and give them the 10 million from the Given transfer to get Keane… Sell Zog to Villa for 3 mill + Shorey… Buy Pennant for the remaining 3 mill… MA’s 10 million + the 2 from Dukes and Geremi gets us M’bia and Ebondo leaving us with this team:
……………Harper/Krul……………
.
Beye/Ebondo…Colo/Taylor…Bassong/Cacapa…Shorey/Enrique
.
Duff/Løvenkrands…Barton(Capt)/Johson…M’bia/Guthrie…Jonas/Pennant
.
Keane/Ranger…Oba/Carroll
Thats a pretty good team, and even if we use commen sense and say that Keane is properly beyond us, replacing his name with Janko would still be a great team and if we made that deal instead we would have allot of money to add to our summer budget… That said, weird things do happen in football, and if Keane is truly unhappy at Liverpool and have some kind of grudge with Benitez, then who knows?.

Comment #13Trooper – honestly geezer what is your problem? I mean if you were funny I think people could tolerate you a bit more but you aren’t in the least. You know what it wouldn’t even be as bad if we were playing spurs next game fans expect banter from rival fans but mate we aren’t playing you for ages.
I know the economy (that’s the thing that keeps the world moving my ‘journalist’ bud) is in a bit of a state but honestly you’d do yourself the world of good if you pop down the local job centre and get yourself some work…..and a life. You need it badly.

Comment #14super.trouper – You’re right. Money was offered Spurs and Swindon Town. He went to Swindon for an interview after deciding they would be the better club to go to as they have more potential than Spurs. He actually realised he was drunk and returned to NUFC to manage the Academy.*
*This may not have happened exactly like that, Money was probably stone cold sober.

Comment #18Pennant was a missed oportunity the first time he was available, he would have helped Owen a lot, would have been ok with Martins too, but the perfect match for Owen.
