Marco Donadel’s Newcastle Move Getting Closer

Speculation is mounting today that Newcastle United are trying to secure the services of Fiorentina’s Marco Donadel, as we reported last night.

marco-donadel

Marco Donadel – will he elect to move to Newcastle?

There was news coming out of Italy yesterday that Newcastle had bid around £4.5M for midfielder Donadel.

Setanta Sports is now reporting that his club Fiorentina will not stop the player moving to , if he opts to make the switch to The Premier League.

That to us sounds like the £4.5M bid has been accepted by his club, and presumably it is now up to the player.

Of course Joe Kinnear and the Newcastle Board are working desperately this week to improve the Newcastle squad ir squad for the final 16 game run-in to the Premier League.

Setanta are reporting that Parma and Genoa are offering Donadel the opportunity to remain in Italy, but developments are expected shortly after Newcastle have already lodged an official bid for the player yesterday.

Donadel’s agent Davide Lippi recently confirmed that his player had several suitors, including some from abroad, as the 25-year-old attempts to enhance his career.

The player arriving at Newcastle now seems a decent possibility, because he will get improved terms on Tyneside, but of course quite a number of Italian players elect to stay in their homeland.

Comments welcome.

Most peoples experience of Donadel on this blog is from signing him on Football Manager!!!

It blatantly is, as I googled him and got hits back to FM09 forums where they all said he’s good and scores long range goals!!!

Saying that, if he’s good in FM09, then it suggests he’s good!!!

My friend is a Fiorentina fan and I asked what he was like, he replied:

“You sked the right guy. He’s very much an all around central midfielder, probably more defensive based but comfortable coming forward, although he doesn’t score many. I’d say he’s in the same mould of someone like Xabi Alonso, only more direct”

Still not seen enough of Mbia, other than whats on offer from youtube. I know next to nothing about Donadel tho, other than the aforementioned FM2009 stats, which I don’t trust (they have titus bramble listed as a classy CB!).

Manchester City/Newcastle transfer summit on Wednesday
    06:15 PM 27 January, 2009
The Blues will step up their pursuit of Shay Given at a meeting with Newcastle officials this week.

St James’s Park transfer supremo Dennis Wise will attempt to get the best possible deal for the Irish goalkeeper and will also push to bring back Nedum Onuoha and Michael Johnson for his manager Joe Kinnear.

Newcastle want a package worth £10m to bring to an end Given’s long association with the club and are prepared to sell after seeing number two Steve Harper sign a new contract.

So how come some geezer on Sky Sports News reported that he doesn’t believe for one minute that we will let Given go, and that it doesn’t matter how much Man City want him?

Mind you, if we were offered one or two good players plus money we really should do the deal!
