Coloccini In Midfield – Given, N’Zogbia Both Missing

manchester-city-crestnufc-crest4

There’s some surprises announced in the Newcastle team that will line up at Eastlands tonight.

Newcastle United players Shay Given and Charles N’Zogbia miss out on tonight’s league clash at Manchester City because of injury.

Don’t believe that for one minute since it looks like both are on their way out of Newcastle before next Tuesday, and we just hope we have replacements lined up for N’Zogbia, who we’ll be glad to see the back of , quite honestly.

Not so with Shay, who is leaving because he’s lost confidence in the ownership and direction  at Newcastle United.

Steve Harper will play his first game in goal this season, with Hexham-born Fraser Forster the substitute goalkeeper.

Fabricio Coloccini will move into central midfield allowing Steven Taylor to return to center-back where he is partnered by Sebastien Bassong. David Edgar keeps his place at right-back.

Joey Barton will also make his first start for Newcastle against his former club, following his knee injury, with Geremi and Damien Duff completing a four-man midfield.

Gutierrez again starts on the bench tonight.  🙁

Andy Carroll and captain Michael Owen start in attack as we expected.

No starting position for new signing Peter Lovenkrands, although we expect to see him at some point during the game.

16 year-old Australian youngster Brad Inman, is named on the bench, for the first time.

Manchester City: Joe Hart, Nedum Onuoha, Wayne Bridge, Micah Richards, Vincent Kompany (c), Nigel de Jong, Stephen Ireland, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Pablo Zabaleta, Craig Bellamy, Robinho
Subs: Kasper Schmeichel, Darius Vassell, Jo, Elano, Javier Garrido, Gelson Fernandes, Felipe Caicedo

Newcastle United: Steve Harper, David Edgar, Jose Enrique, Steven Taylor, Sebastien Bassong, Joey Barton, Fabricio Coloccini, Damien Duff, Geremi, Michael Owen (c), Andy Carroll
Subs: Fraser Forster, Peter Lovenkrands, Xisco, Kazenga LuaLua, Ryan Donaldson, Brad Inman, Jonas Gutierrez

Referee: Michael Jones
Attendance: tbc

    Of the starting x11

    Edgar
    Taylor
    Enrique
    Geremi
    Colo (in midfield)
    Duff
    Carroll

thats 7 out of 11 that in my eyes are not good enough for Newcastle Uniteds starting 11!

Worst starting team i have seen from us in the PL.

Look at the bench, you could mistake it for an under 18’s game!

Good good. Last thing we need is him picking up an injury. Although I have no idea why Geremi is starting, Jonas offers more going forward, and defending. Yet another poor call from Joe.

I’ve supported NUFC for the past 18 years and this for me is my darkest day.

I know there undoubtedly have been darker days for older fans, but this hurts.

The team is set out for a 0-0, we go behind anytime in the match, then its lights out.

Now however, who now would settle for a 0-0.

I know i would, so is Joe doing the right thing?

    I’m confused….

Sturridge isn’t in the Man City squad, hopefully he’s part of the Given deal. Entertainers sure enough there’s been some slightly darker days, but i gotta agree that’s a poor side we’ve put out tonight.

The club has had FOUR weeks to bring in new players and this crock of crap is JFK’s idea of a team that can compete against Citeh.
I honestly thought that I would never see the dark days of the late seventies and eighties again.
I think the club has thrown the towel in………..
    Zero ambition.
