There is some amazing news being reported by the Newcastle Journal today, that Albin Ebondo’s club Toulouse are still reluctant to let him move to Newcastle in January.
Albin Ebondo – Newcastle still talking with Toulouse?
We find this rather amazing, because why is the player in Newcastle now, if no agreement has been reached with his club, and we had even hoped last Monday he could have made his debut tonight at Eastlands.
A representative of Ebondo told The Newcastle Journal last night:
“Newcastle are still talking to Toulouse but they do not really want to sell Albin in the middle of the season when they do not have another right-back and do not have time to find a replacement.”
“It has happened late in the transfer window and that does not leave much time to get anything done.”
“I have spoken to Albin and he is aware of Newcastle’s interest, but he has been told by Toulouse they do not want to sell him. He is happy to stay with Toulouse for the time being.”
“He does not know if this is the right time for him to move to England because he does not know whether Newcastle really want him or they just want someone to play while Habib Beye is out injured.”
“He would have to have some sort of reassurance from Newcastle before he signed. It is a complicated situation, but a deal does not look likely unless there is a sudden change.”
This is amazing news, unless Ebondo has never been on Tyneside at all this week, but this will come as a major shock and surprise to Newcastle fans, since we had been told the deal is imminent.
And Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear started the week by suggesting the defender could be a Newcastle player before tonight’s trip to Manchester City.
What’s exactly is going on here?
It sounds awfully fishy to us, with just 5 days to go in the transfer market – Dennis Wise and company had better get a move on.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1I believe NOTHING that comes outa JFK’s mouth. He is constantly lying, contradicting himself on a daily basis. If it was any other club i’d be in tears of laughter at it, it is pathetic. He is just another reason our clubs in a mess giving licence to people like super to come on here and hurl abuse. I am no longer worried we wont get anyone in, I am more worried about how many leave. If we get anyone in it shall come as a major suprise. I expect Shay to be left out the squad tonight which speaks volumes, though im sure JFK will spout some shit like ‘ Hes not going anywhere, his head wasnt in the right place’, probably at the same time Shay’s being unvieled in the adjacent room!
Pathetic

Comment #8Its getting beyond a joke now if we arn’t going to sign anyone hwy not just come out and say it instead of spouting lies of this player and that player. I think Given and charlie will leave before next monday charlie can go for me hes trouble making, Given although we will be bad off without him you cant blame him realy id want out too. It looks like we are going to gamble on players coming back to fitness (i.e Smith Oba) to get us by and gamble that we wont go down well sorry but we will we are not good enough

Comment #9Not in the least bit surprised. This is the cock-eyed way Wise, Kinnear, and whatever other clowns they involve, run a football club. They are a bunch of costermonger spivs! Another example of how we, the fans, are lied to each and every day!

Comment #13At least it sounds as though Albondo wanted to come for the right reasons, the fact he wants to play Rb every week and not just for the cash. However it doesn’t look good, the board have dragged their knuckles throughout this window with no plan whatsoever, these deals should have been wrapped up in the 1st week of Jan. The transfer windows should be scrapped anyway, theyr’e a shocking idea.

Comment #15Today the Times reports we are in for Donadel and he may be coming. This paper, according to recent statistics, gets most of its stories about NUFC correct. So, lets wait and see. With time running out now for this window I think we will end up with less players than when it opened! The Independent reckons Man City will have to shell out 8m for Shay. They are reasonably accurate too.

Comment #17Not suprised at all. Don’t anybody remember last window? We had heard all kind of thing, and a bunch of players would be signed only to end up with no players and KK leaving. Same shit this time. No money for transfers, and we are going down.

Comment #19Youve got to laugh havent you. I mean yesterday it was all hey look were doing soomething and today it – well actually.
You CANNOT even use the excuse that ‘we tried but no one would sell’ because other prem clubs have been signing and selling and loaning and what £129 million spent so far.
Wise better not be planning any more rubbish panic signings!!!!

Comment #20I think we’re being a bit niaive here. Just like Joe.
Lets not forget that things have changed significantly in the transfer market since JFK was last a manager.
10 years ago all that was needed was a couple of phone calls and when a manager said “He’ll be in by the end of the week” then he generally was.
Now we have sites like this speculating, we have internet journalists, agents, lawyers, players’ best friends and lets not forget the influence of WAGS, all giving their ten percent and looking for 15 back.
We also have the players themselves angling for a pay rise.
JFK is, for those of you not old enough to remember, a good old fahioned football manager who simply speaks his mind.
If you want to be pedantic and super analyse everything he says, then yes he tells the odd porky, but its more exageration than lying.
He’s hardly what you’d call discrete. If he says someone’s coming in then that’s not his opinion, that’s what he’s been told by someone else who’s arranging it (poison dwarf maye?)
Then the next day he’s told something else and tells us the same.
Joe’s doing what he thinks is right and giving us information as he gets it. He’d probably be better off keeping his mouth shut for a while and confirming it first, but he doesnt.
You wanted communication – you’re getting it.
He’s not changing the facts – he’s just a bit premature.
At the end of the day – is he the right man for the job? That’s a different question altogether.
Personally I dont think so.
If we’re going to slag the guy off we should at least be doing it for the right reasons.

Comment #25Archie Brand – totally agree but isn’t he old enough and hopefully wise enough to cotton on pretty quickly to what’s been happening and to know it might be better to shut the kcuf up? We are being tortured by the communication that they offer not necessarily what was demanded. Informative, discreet and timely updates rather than outlandish dichotomy for me every time like. JK is being hung out to dry but surely he’s wily enough to know that? Or is he being paid enough to play that role?

Comment #27Players need to leave for new players to come in, as the wage bill can’t be increased. I reckon Newcastle have told Toulouse to wait until the end of the week, and Toulouse now see that as a position to negotiate.
Geremi, Given and Owen really need to leave this window!!!

I think you are one of the few on here who have seen this for what i is. This comes out almosts simultaneously with the news of Given’s transfer being held up. City are obviously trying to play hardball over the transfer and not pay us what we want i.e. 10million+

Comment #29It seems Villa want Owen for free in the summer. It also seems he will not be signing a new contract for us either. The bloke has not come out in favour of staying with us. So, Joe, sell him within the next five days to Villa or else he will walk for free. And who is Wright at Charlton?

Tbh, it is our fault City are playing hardball. JK’s blabbering has made it common knowledge that we have to buy to sell. So of course City are going to take the piss as they know we need the money to buy anyone in January.

Comment #39To be fair this doesnt really bother me at all!!!!
When Beye returns from injury this lad will lose his place in the team; something which he is concerned about himself, so i wouldnt be surprised if it is the lad himself who is having second thoughts!
I’d be happy to play taylor at right back until beye returns OR BEFORE YOU ALL START GOING MAD; bring in ONOUHA as part of the Given deal. He can operate comfortably at right back or centre half.
Our priority positions MUST BE LEFT BACK AND CENTRE MIDFIELD!!!!!!
That is where we are weakest! Lest face it; we are not going to be signing many players; why waste what little money we have on any other positions other than these!
I still feel that we might get something this evening; a point followed by three on sunday will set us up nicely for the west brom and bolton away fixtures!

Comment #40Kevin Nichol – you are bang on mate. I think the priority ahead of anything is the CM. We get dicked on in there every game.
We have decent wide men who don;t get the ball nearly quick enough and a defence that is constantly under pressure. It basically all comes back to having a completely toss center midfield.
We have missed barton big style but need someone else desperately. If we got just one decent CM and that was it I think I’d take that at the moment.
