Barton Out 8 Weeks – Owen Likely Out 10 Weeks

More bad news today on the injury front of course with very little news of any new faces coming to the club before next Monday at 5:00 pm.

SUNDERLAND V NEWCASTLE

Joey Barton – out for 8 weeks with broken right foot

It turns out the injury sustained by Joey Barton at Manchester City last night has been confirmed as a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

That’s the exact same injury that Joey suffered, but to his left foot at the beginning of last season.

The player will undergo surgery on Friday and is expected to be out for around eight weeks, at least.

Meanwhile, Michael Owen was also having a scan on his injured left ankle today, and we will know more about that injury later today, although the initial prognosis suggest Michael could be out for up to 10 weeks.

To have two of your best players unavailable for the run-in to the season is a serious blow to Newcastle’s diminishing hopes of avoiding relegation this season.

The team for Sunday’s derby game against Sunderland will be interesting, because Joe will have no choice but to play the best youngsters available to him.

Comments welcome.

Given the curent situation we’re in, so what difference are the injuries gonna make?

Joe must be on the point of despair and I wonder if this’ll prompt MA to take the plight of his investment seriously.

Are Colocinni missing as well or do murphy prefer to play Taylor ahead of him?

    Harper
    Enrique
    collo
    Bassong
    Taylor
    Duff
    Geremi/Lua Lua
    Smith
    Jonas
    Carroll
    Xisco/Ranger

Thats about the best we can put out according to our injuries, it’s not a bad team but not great either…

You would probably give Smith the armband as the most senior and experienced player but there is not security in that either…

Geremi does need to leave the club, as does Given and Zog, if we can get those three out Maybe we can build on our not so shabby defence (although we still need a LB & RB) but what we need right now is some creativity, the kids can put the ball in the back of the net…

Wes toon, I’m glad I put a smile on your face!

At the moment I think Mcloven could do a job for us, dunno if we’d need a work permit though with him being hawaiian!!

oh and yeah I forgot Collo in midfield, although he’s playing pretty poorly at the moment I’d rarther him than Geremi.

Owen out for 10 weeks means he will not play until at least the 4th of April. We will have 7 games left then and he can, if no extension signed, walkfor free in July. It really is time to pull the plug on this sometimes walking, occasionally running disaster. If he did run down the tunnel after coming off last night then I would have him out the door asap. A pity about Barton cos he was apparently quite upset about having to come off.

Think we will go down this season Fellas, JFK is making the the right noises…

Might not be such a bad thing, there is not one player in our squad who I could say is a top Consistant Premiership player most are has beens who we are waiting to come good but never will…

    Butt
    Owen
    Smith
    Geremi
    Viduka

I think it’s back to the drawing board concerning the team sheet, maybe we could pick up 12 good players while in the Championship and actually have a proper squad for the first time in 7 years, it’s no co incidence we are top of the injury list, when you look at the player who are injured and always seem to be injured, I am sure Duff will joi them shortly too 🙁

Joey Barton is probably our best player at the moment but he is starting to look like he is made of glass, thank god he didn’t get kicked out after his troubles…

We need to cull that wage bill quickly cause if/when we go down life will be much tougher…

I just want to beat the Makems before we do though so we will have something to smile about for a year or so 🙂

owen has played his last game for us, lets be honest. he is out for ten weeks, do you think he is going to rush back only to break down again and not be a hot comodity for the teams that are watchign him?? he will get to april on this injury and then say this and that just to string it out til the end of season, just so he can bleed every last penny. mind you, he is only adopting ashleys attitude too, seems everyone is out to screw newcastle un-united these days.

I’ve been saying since October that we will be relegated. Only now I feel physically sick cos I know it for the truth. Previ0usly I harboured a little forlorn hope that we’d get out of the mess thanks to a magic wand. I honestly don’t think that even magic could get us out if this.

Message to all united players : You have no fight, no resolve, no fortitude, no pride. You have no respect for the team, squad, club or fans. You are willing to pick up maximum wages for minimum effort. You whinge, you whine, you feign injury. You trot out platitudes and half truths when you speak. When you have a genuine injury you milk it for all its worth. You do not give 100% effort when you play. You are a disgrace. You will get us relegated.

If I am wrong prove I am wrong. I will retract every single word and eat humble pie.

I am posting this on every blog in the hope one of you reads it

Owen might wish he had signed a new contract, he cannot be worth more than £50k per week now.

Without good support from Martins who scatters the defense and creates opportunities he doesnt look special at all.

Now he is injured again just as he looked as if he may have turned a corner, which decent team in their right mind would sign him?

Owen and Ashton are no good for the premiership relative to their wages.

I am really concerned that Martins will be brought back even if he isnt quite ready, we know he will play of he can, he ran on a bad ankle for almost a full game for his country Nigeria and he tried to play on with his present injury.

He is our main hope and needs to be 100% fit so he can play till the end of the season, not be out on then miss a few games.

If anyone thought that the Xisco, Collocini, Jonas and Guthrie signings, plus Milner sale was not that important they will be thinking again now.

Give Joey the armband I say. He’s the only player that played with passion last night. We went down 1-0 last night and Owen didn’t want know anymore. How come he ran of the pitch when he was subbed?! What a waste of f**ing space.

Well I cant see anyone matching Owens lofty ambitions coming for him in the summer. Too expensive and constantly out through injury who would take him?? We need to renegotiate and offer him a contract based on appearances and if he does not want to stick with us he can go.

I think Man City’s behavour regarding Given is atrocious. We all know what he is worth and the last thing they should be doing is insulting the guy before buying him by making this transfer so complicated. Is he worth a third of Bellamy????? When did these mega rich oils gazillionaires suddenly become penny pinchers?
