Better News On Michael Owen – Out For 4 Weeks

A little bit of good news this morning on the injury to Michael Owen and he will not be out as long as first thought.

Michael Owen – now out for around 4 weeks

The news is that the scan on Michael’s ankle ligaments showed the injury is not as bad as was first feared.

Scans on the forward have revealed that he is likely to be fit again in about a month, which is much better news, although we must say that Michael is a slow healer, and that may be optimistic, but we’ll have to hope for the best.

And it appears that Newcastle will pull out of their deal for Miguel Veloso and give Bolton a free run at him, after agreeing to buy Kevin Nolan.

Kevin is right now in Newcastle undergoing a medical, and discussing personal terms, which we don’t think will be a problem, and we expect news today that we have signed the 26 year old midfielder, and that seems to have been received well by most Newcastle fans.

At least we know Kevin will give his all for the club in the run-in to the Premier league through May.

Nolan returned from suspension to play in the 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night, and that is now expected to be his final appearance for Bolton.

And news yesterday that Shay Given has put in a formal transfer request at Newcastle, to put further pressure on the club to sell him.

But we should only do that if Man City come up with the goods – and we need at least £9M for one of the best goalkeepers in the world, who is still only 32 years old, and that for goalkeepers is not too old at all these days.

Comments welcome.

Great! lets shift him out to La Galaxy quickly before he pricks his finger on a pin or gets a paper cut which’ll rule him out for the rest of the season!

Come on toon, get this one in the bag and move onto the next one.

Zog to Villa eh? At least he will settle in with Milner.

MO hasnt done much for a few matches now.

Im more concerned about Joey B than Mo.

Come on Oba. Oba and Carroll upfront. Speed and height. Lets just hope we win!

Agreed, we need to sip out Owen, as it owuld save us a bucket full in wages!! We also need to get rid of Viduka, Cacapa, Geremi and Duff, who IMO are all ineffectual!!!

If only they would spend to replace him, this is the cause of all of the team trouble at Newcastle, his lack of any loyalty at all or belonging to any club just mercenary employment has other players thinking they can do the same and unsettled them into no longer being a team.

I would have sold him last summer and bought cisse, I do not understand people thinking he is a better player, if we can get a replacement now it would help settle the team. If Nolan does arrive he should be made captain, not someone like this.

Xisco won’t play for much for us this season, apparently we’ll have to pay Deportivo £2.5m if he racks up a certain number of appearances. I thought he was a good signing after I read this:

Whats this about Veloso and only offering a loan deal. Now, when were they ever going to accept that. They are a top club and they wouldnt need there top players on loan at other clubs for them to get a handsome transfee for them.

I think we just wanted Velosos name linked to us tbf.

Anyway, Martins is better than Owen so as long as he comes back shouldnt be too big of a four week loss.

Taylor and Nolan would satisfy me at the moment and maybe Saviola as well. Another window without a left back, but we have two solid prem players there.

Gerami isnt our worst player, he wasnt fit last game but played anyhow, his crosses are very good and have got us above the relegation zone, Gerami should be kept not sold.

He is slow I agree, but his passes are usually good.

Robby Robson, I agree about Martins, i am curious to see what an on from Carroll can do with Martin’s assists, should be interesting.

Why didnt flaming Carroll waken up like this from last Summer??

I still think we need Ebondo. He gives us a proper option for RB and would allow Beye to sometimes act as cover for CB if it is needed. Taylor is a decent RB, but imo he is more cover for RM. Despite all the talk of Veloso, Donadel looks like our real CM/DM target and if reports about him are correct then i am content with that one.

    Ebondo and
Donadel to come in and this transfer window can be classed as a success.

Geremi has about 1 in 10 good passes and cant take a set piece kick for beans.

No not kidding I wouldnt sell Gerami, I know he wasnt fit the last match but I wouldnt sell him.

I just hope Martins isnt played until he is fully fit, I know fans wouldnt get on his back like they do with Gerami, but we need him more than anyone to stay fit for the rest of the season.

looks like Geremi has 3 players on his back-hes that slow! Owen out for 8 weeks is still right. The limp little tw-t takes twice as long as anyone to get back.
