A little bit of good news this morning on the injury to Michael Owen and he will not be out as long as first thought.
Michael Owen – now out for around 4 weeks
The news is that the scan on Michael’s ankle ligaments showed the injury is not as bad as was first feared.
Scans on the forward have revealed that he is likely to be fit again in about a month, which is much better news, although we must say that Michael is a slow healer, and that may be optimistic, but we’ll have to hope for the best.
And it appears that Newcastle will pull out of their deal for Miguel Veloso and give Bolton a free run at him, after agreeing to buy Kevin Nolan.
Kevin is right now in Newcastle undergoing a medical, and discussing personal terms, which we don’t think will be a problem, and we expect news today that we have signed the 26 year old midfielder, and that seems to have been received well by most Newcastle fans.
At least we know Kevin will give his all for the club in the run-in to the Premier league through May.
Nolan returned from suspension to play in the 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night, and that is now expected to be his final appearance for Bolton.
And news yesterday that Shay Given has put in a formal transfer request at Newcastle, to put further pressure on the club to sell him.
But we should only do that if Man City come up with the goods – and we need at least £9M for one of the best goalkeepers in the world, who is still only 32 years old, and that for goalkeepers is not too old at all these days.
