Kinnear “Over The Moon” To Have Signed Kevin Nolan

Both new £4M signing Kevin Nolan (a very good player for that money) and a relieved Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear have been talking this afternoon.

Kevin Nolan –  Newcastle midfielder must be very excited right now

Kevin could well go on to become captain at Newcastle United, once Michael Owen leaves the club in the summer.

Kevin told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle after signing for the Magpies:

“It was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”

“It’s all happened so quickly, and it was impossible to turn down the chance.”

“It’s a chance to play in front of 50,000 fans at a stadium like St James’ Park.”

“It’s amazing really and I am really looking forward to the next four and half years.”

Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear revealed he was over the moon to have landed Nolan.

The Newcastle United manager said:

“It’s happened very quickly for Kevin.” “I was to determined we would pull out all the stops to bring Kev here.”

“He’s a great leader and a very inspirational player.” “He never knows when he is beaten and he’s got a good eye for goal and bags of experience.”

“I think he’s going to be a very valuable player for us and somebody who can help us climb up the table.”

There’s no doubt this is a good signing for Newcastle, given the terrible situation we are in, and to get such a good inspirational player at the club is good news.

He’s the type of player who gives his all in every game he plays and will soon no doubt be a favorite of the great Geordie fans.

And he makes his debut on Sunday against Sunderland at St. James’ Park – what a way to make your debut at the Newcastle club, but he’ll get a great welcome from the reinvigorated Newcastle fans, that’s for sure.

Now for 4 more good players before Monday!

Comments welcome.

I don’t mean to, well hear me out anyway……
David Craig AKA Liar said yesterday that there was going to be 2 english prem players coming to TOON as well as Saviola and the French lad. To be fair none of us knew of Nolan and Taylor so maybe just maybe he might know something we dont

Pons- mentioned similar earlier yeah, you can add guthrie to that mix to i think.

too defensive minded a midfield still, needing some real creative stuff in there, but then again beggars can’t be chosers!

Ok, we’ve signed someone. It kind of spoils the flow of the blog when there’s two or three different topics on the same news item.

    what about this….
    Harper
    Beye-Colo-Bassong-Taylor
    Barton-Butt-Nolan
    Gutierrez – Martins
    Carroll
When fully fit that doesn’t look two bad, some broken legs here and there and a bit more pace upfront.

Mac, he also said that Given would be officially unveiled a City player yesterday, and that the 2 players were also going to sign yesterday! The man spouts shite all day long after reading the morning’s rumour columns.
He has made SOOO many ‘predictions’ that of course he is going to get one or two right eventually!

Nice “Find your Russian bueaty today” advert at the bottom of the page Ed. Do you think this could be a way to get hold of Arshavin? He hasn’t signed for Arsenal yet!

    Nolan quotes from NUFC TV

“I know a few of the lads here, I know Joey Barton well and played with Danny (Guthrie) when he came to Bolton and then theirs a few other and a few backroom staff aswell like Robbie Elliott who Ive kept in touch with since he left Bolton…

“They all only say positive things about the club and I know there is some very hardworking lads here and hopefully that will rub off on me and I can help drag us away from the relegation zone

“I didnt come here to be fighting against relegation season in, season out…I want to play in europe in the magnificent stadium and there’s enough talented lads here to do it ”

“Newcastle has always been a club I’ve had an interest in, they have probably the best fans in the Premier League

“I just can’t wait to start doing the business ”

“I was very suprised Bolton accepted the bid for me but once it was accepted I was delighted and can’t wait to play in the Sunderland game ”

“I’ll be a bit nervous, but I can’t wait and if there is a penalty to take I’d have no problem stepping up (refering to his miss at SJP from the spot)

9.16 Reports from Portugal suggest that Sporting Lisbon have rejected another bid from Bolton for midfielder Miguel Veloso. Newcastle are also believed to be showing interest, but a deadline of 5pm today has been set for any further offers to be received.

From SSN. So we’ve got til 5 today, reckon we’ll out a bid in? I hope so, Veloso would be class, got a lot of grit as well as being great on the ball. Get him, Saviola and Taylor and i’d be happy enough.

I think he’s a good signing, so I assume we’ve now abandoned this policy about signing young, up and coming youngsters, which was previously the excuse for not buying better (i.e. more expensive) players. This shows some sense. It’s what we need right now (as well as a defenders).

doofa the loofa good link. Everyone should read this before they slag of MA too much. Not saying he should of managed the football and communications side of the business better but he’s probably saved us from a Leeds type slide; Fat Freddie had us bankrupt. IMO MA has a long term plan for the club, which means firstly stabilising the finances and bringing the wages bill under control by getting the big earners (free loaders) of the books then grow the club by bringing in younger hungrier talent and youth development.

Cool, that’ll be a canny lift. I was dreading the midfield we were going to have to put out. Butt and Geremi would have been an awful proposition – Nolan will improve it no end.
