Both new £4M signing Kevin Nolan (a very good player for that money) and a relieved Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear have been talking this afternoon.
Kevin Nolan – Newcastle midfielder must be very excited right now
Kevin could well go on to become captain at Newcastle United, once Michael Owen leaves the club in the summer.
Kevin told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle after signing for the Magpies:
“It was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
“It’s all happened so quickly, and it was impossible to turn down the chance.”
“It’s a chance to play in front of 50,000 fans at a stadium like St James’ Park.”
“It’s amazing really and I am really looking forward to the next four and half years.”
Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear revealed he was over the moon to have landed Nolan.
The Newcastle United manager said:
“It’s happened very quickly for Kevin.” “I was to determined we would pull out all the stops to bring Kev here.”
“He’s a great leader and a very inspirational player.” “He never knows when he is beaten and he’s got a good eye for goal and bags of experience.”
“I think he’s going to be a very valuable player for us and somebody who can help us climb up the table.”
There’s no doubt this is a good signing for Newcastle, given the terrible situation we are in, and to get such a good inspirational player at the club is good news.
He’s the type of player who gives his all in every game he plays and will soon no doubt be a favorite of the great Geordie fans.
And he makes his debut on Sunday against Sunderland at St. James’ Park – what a way to make your debut at the Newcastle club, but he’ll get a great welcome from the reinvigorated Newcastle fans, that’s for sure.
Now for 4 more good players before Monday!
Comments welcome.

Comment #83Different quotes from JFK – Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear claims he is unsure whether a potential move will go through.
‘We’re still tied up in negotiations,’ he claimed.
‘The original price was £2.5million but they moved the goalposts and it’s now £3million.
‘We are still out in France negotiating. It’s been two weeks now, so we have to wait and see.’

Comment #84Disgraceful mercenary tactics by Toulouse regarding the Ebondo transfer. An 100% price hike.
I’m glad JK told them to get stuffed.

Comment #86Its ok that nicky butt is captain because fair enough nolan is probably a better captain but..butt knows our side, and nolan i’m sure will be shouting and bawling anyway much like barton does even though he’s not captain (though should be)

Comment #88Is anyone else not really bothered about Given?
It’s the one place we have ample cover.
As long as whatever deal is done is good for the club then I’m happy.

His name was Nolan,
He came from Bolton,
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Shola dancing there.
And when he finished he called him over,
But Nolan went a bit too far,
Clouted Zogs who then saw stars.
And then the mackem scum arrived,
Both teams keeping Premiership dreams alive.
At St James’, St James Park…..

Comment #105Butt captain……i bet the Sunderland team are shaking with fear!! a little bit of a drag down to earth that, realised the team is goin to be
Harper
Edgar….Collo…Bassong…Enrique
Duff…..Butt….Nolan……Jonas
Carroll…..Martins
so basically left wing is the only place the creativity is coming from? ohhhh the joy! so much more potential in the team even by playing Lualua or something, give a bit of pace to scare Sunderland! yeah Oba pacey but hes just had an op and will last 60mins tops i bet!
