Ryan Taylor Keen On Move To Newcastle

12:12 pm, Friday, January 30th, 2009 by Ed Harrison · 36 Comments

Newcastle have not had their offer for Ryan Taylor of Wigan accepted yet, and of course Ryan will be a free agent this summer.

Ryan Taylor – seems keen to move to Tyneside

A source close to 24-year-old Taylor told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:

“He’d love to make the move to Newcastle. He sees it as a big move in his career.”

“Ryan has been in talks over a new contract, but they haven’t really progressed.”

“He’s grown restless and sees this as the right time to move on.”

Taylor’s run of goals against Newcastle started in 2007 when he scored from a free-kick in a 1-0 win against Glenn Roeder’s side, and he has now scored four goals against Newcastle in consecutive games.

But Ryan also has some bad memories of playing in Newcastle after he broke his leg in two places at Kingston Park in 2006, while playing against Newcastle Reserves, and he spent some time in a Newcastle hospital recovering from that bad injury.

We really hope we can get Ryan in time to play against Sunderland, but that’s looking like a remote possibility at the moment.

However, for £1.5M, this lad will be an excellent signing for us, if we can push the deal through.

Comments welcome.

If we dont get him now, still sign him up for nothing. Class act.

I bet he scores an own goal on his debut if we sign him. Any takers?

12.04 Newcastle have completed the signing of midfielder Kevin Nolan from Bolton on a four-and-a-half-year deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £4million.

GEORDIE69- probably right mate, and in doing so breaks his leg again, off to newcastle hospital then, for the second time and we’lll see the lad again in 8 months!

  • 11 GEORDIE69 // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:20 PM

Aye Clinta sounds like a good double bet that!

  • 12 William // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:21 PM

    yes get in.

  • 13 Ericles // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Were we not after Giles Barnes before? According to SSN an unnamed Premier side has put in a bid or are talking with Derby. Could this be NUFC? If Taylor comes does Zog go to Wigan? A little bit nearer London, family, and Arse and All I suppose. Anyway we have Nolan so a step in the right direction has been made.

Get Taylor in and then try and somehow convince City to swap Jonnson and Sturridge for Given.

  • 23 richyg01 // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:31 PM

I think the Given deal is going to include a player that is what is holding it up

  • 24 RyanToon // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:32 PM

will nolan be able to play vs the mackems?

  • 25 Dragonera // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:35 PM

Donadel, Taylor and Ebondo now please.

  • 26 Dragonera // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:36 PM

    Ryan

He should be available for the Sunderland game. No doubt the reason we were so swift with the transfer was because of our lack of midfield players for the Derby.

  • 27 Pons Aelius // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:39 PM

I knew as soon as Ashley decided to show his face again that we were making progress in the transfer market.

He wouldn’t of dared to turn up otherwise.

  • 28 Toon Graeme // Jan 30, 2009 at 12:41 PM
