Newcastle have not had their offer for Ryan Taylor of Wigan accepted yet, and of course Ryan will be a free agent this summer.
Ryan Taylor – seems keen to move to Tyneside
A source close to 24-year-old Taylor told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:
“He’d love to make the move to Newcastle. He sees it as a big move in his career.”
“Ryan has been in talks over a new contract, but they haven’t really progressed.”
“He’s grown restless and sees this as the right time to move on.”
Taylor’s run of goals against Newcastle started in 2007 when he scored from a free-kick in a 1-0 win against Glenn Roeder’s side, and he has now scored four goals against Newcastle in consecutive games.
But Ryan also has some bad memories of playing in Newcastle after he broke his leg in two places at Kingston Park in 2006, while playing against Newcastle Reserves, and he spent some time in a Newcastle hospital recovering from that bad injury.
We really hope we can get Ryan in time to play against Sunderland, but that’s looking like a remote possibility at the moment.
However, for £1.5M, this lad will be an excellent signing for us, if we can push the deal through.
