Kinnear Reveals Toulouse Club Play Foul Over Ebondo

Joe Kinnear has been left more than frustrated with Newcastle’s failure to sign right-back, Albin Ebondo, from Toulouse, but it looks like the fault lies with the French club – shame on them.

Albin Ebondo – poor ethics from the Toulouse club

Joe had thought the deal had been tied up earlier in the week, but it looks like the Toulouse club have been left than forthcoming in their dealings over Ebondo..

Of course it’s Dennis Wise’s job to get the players in, and we seem to take an awful lot of time on some pof these moves, but in this case Dennis seems to have done everything right.

Executive Director Dennis Wise traveled to France to tie up the deal, but Newcastle pulled out of the deal after the Toulouse had hiked up the price for a sec ond time.

Kinnear said:

“I’m disappointed at how things went having had (secretary) Lee Charnley and Dennis Wise over there for two days.”

“We agreed the terms before he left, which were £2.5M. When we got there they upped it to £3m. We agreed to that, then they upped it again.”

“We thought it was done and dusted, and at the very last minute they moved the goalposts to £6M. Lee and Dennis said no, and got on the next plane home.”

“It was a wasted journey, to be honest. It wasn’t the best way to act considering the deal was done prior to them going over.”

You cannot deal with club s who do that kind of thing – and shame on them.

Newcastle were right to pull out, but we wonder if we have others now lined up before Monday?

But it’s good to hear these things because at least it gives Newcastle fans some idea of the frustrations the transfer market – but let’s still sign another two players.   😀

    Thats well cheeky.

Just incase anyone wants to know – Stoke who are under we are down to 10 men after Delap got sent off in the 38 min.

Lets see if Man Citey can spank Stoke so they dont overtake us.

  • Stoke are 1-0 up. Beattie scored on the stroke of half time.

Beattie just scored for them, although I still have hope that City can still win this game.

Horrible decision by the ref, should of been a red a piece, he saw Wright Phillips lash out, absolutely puzzling.

Totally agree and there’s plenty more players out there and we desperately need more good 1st team players in.

Mmmmm…. doesn’t it seem the same as the summer, granted some good signings during the summer but not enough.

Whatever, business should have been done earlier in the window, their own stupid fault. Can’t expect all the kids in the playground to play fair and you have to be prepared for it.

    Naive.

Were we not atleast a leftback and creative midfielder short after the summer? Good to see that was a priority this transfer window….. errrrr, maybe not then!

Still got Monday for Ashley to protect his assets and to keep us in the Prem.

Amazing how Wise is away and that deal falls through but we sign Nolan in less than 24hours when Wise is not involved. What the F**k does that little dwarf actually do.

Oh and Toulouse, bad play. How an original (apparent) £2.5m can be hoised to £6m is beyond me.
A little chance of canny signing doon the bloody drain.
1 in’s not enough. Fingers (and toes and everything else for that matter) crossed.

Well…you only have to go back and see how they robbed Bolton with Elmander’s transfer.
But i think they’re stupid how they let Emana for such a low price to Betis..

    N’Zogbia+Cacapa+3mill for Ebondo&Sisoko

This was the deal i was hoping for.

Who really cares, never wanted him in the first place, nothing special.
P****s be off we let Hull get Mouyokolo for 2m.
    a much better player.
Last season when BSA wanted Nolan everyone groaned, this season everyone`s happy.
Looking back over a couple of sesons and reviewing the talented players who have gone for whatever reason, plus those yet to leave ,looks like we are building a good championship club here.
    Aaaaarghhh !

And yeah blame the French, or the cockney mafia, or the sufern press, or a host of other suspects.
Truth is the club is in free fall lacking a footballing guy in charge, no money, a manager who does`nt get it, selling off our best players. No body wants to come to a club in chaos, Miguel Veloso?, did anyone really believe that,
if so the term naive comes to mind.
I will be surprized if we avoid relegation with this lot, Aaaaarrghhh!

Never realy seen Ebondo and to be honest I get a feeling Taylor would do better than him, I’d have Taylor in the team just for his deliveries.
