Sky Sports is reporting today that Shay Given is having his medical right now after Manchester City presumably finally agreed a fee with Newcastle for the player.
Shay Given – finally on his way
Sky Sports sources have confirmed Shay Given is having a medical at Manchester City, after the Eastlands club finally thrashed out a fee with Newcastle for the goalkeeper.
We are being told the fee agreed is £8M, but Newcastle fans will also be interested to know if any Manchester City players like Michael Johnson, Nedum Onuoha, Daniel Sturridge, Tal Ben-Haim or Blumer Elano are coming in the other direction.
But it seems it will soon be made official that Shay Given has indeed left that club he joined in the summer of 1997, from Blackburn Rovers.
It’s hard to keep players who don’t want to be at the club, and we’re sorry to see Shay leave, and thank him for his tremendous and loyal service to the Newcastle United club of 460 appearances.
He’s been a joy to watch for Newcastle over the last 12 years, and has been a credit to our club, and of course we wish him the very best.
It will now be a new era at Newcastle with Given gone.
On the other hand we’d be more than pleased to see babyface Charles N”Zogbia leave today for Wigan.
If Charles leaves for£6M, then that’s £14M in the coffers, and enough to buy at least 3 new players (not including Ryan Taylor) before tomorrow afternoon.
And we should go for it.
