Enrique Explains Jonas Gutierrez Partnership

The fact that Joe Kinnear has played Gutierrez on the left wing, and Duff on the right has left Newcastle fans a little baffled, since it’s not their preferred sides

jose-enrique-43

Jose Enrique – communicates well with Jonas Gutierrez

And today our left-back Jose Enrique has explained why that’s the case:

“It worked well against Sunderland for myself and Jonas,”

“It works better for me when Jonas plays on the left because we have a great understanding. He works hard and drops back to cover for me.”

“We communicate very well and, because he has played in La Liga, we can bring out the best in each other.”

“It allows me to overlap and get forward, which is what my game was all about at Villarreal.”

“But you have to have an understanding with who you play with to be able to do it and play well.”

“The only thing is that we have not produced enough crosses, but in the games to come I think you will see more of that.”

Enrique may well be on short time at Newcastle, since it is looking more and more certain that 22 year-old Daniel Fox, Coventry City’s left back is on his way to Newcastle in about a £1.5M deal, depending what figure you believe, for the England Under-21 International.

And it seems that Joe keeps trying to offload Jose, last week to Glasgow Rangers, who couldn’t afford his wages, and supposedly today to Atletico Madrid, in part exchange for former Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia.

We heard the lad is on £40K a week at Newcastle, which seems awfully high for a 22 year-old, and that deal was negotiated after Ashley bought the Newcastle club too.

Jose went on:

“We needed to win the game, and that was very important.”

“At times, I thought we were going to win it, but we have unfortunately got to accept just one point.”

“To fight back in the second half was great for us, because I thought we played very well.”

Less than 4 hours to go to the end of the transfer window, although the deadline may be extended, because of snow in England, but nothing official on that yet.

Comments welcome.

To be fair to Enrique he had a good game yesterday with Jonas on the left. Just a shame that Butt, Nolan, Duff, Carrol and Shola were shocking! At least Nolan has the excuse of never playing with them.
Roll on Fox, Taylor, Johnson and a striker!

Enrique did well yesterday he passed it to Gutierez a lot and Gutierez led it on to cross it into other players.

I honestly hope we don’t get rid of him, he’s a good player and he proved that yesterday!! he needs more time, he’s still young and now has bags full of experience in the prem, why get rid of him when we know he can do a job?! please lets keep him!!!

    Greg P – I disagree!

Nolan worked hard, tackled back and often when our passes were wayward tried ridiculously hard to make up for them by stretching (often on the floor) to intercept them! Carroll had a header off the bar and a reaction shot a couple of inches wide – in both occasions a little bit of luck and he’d have been a hero! Duff worked harder than I’ve seen him work in AGES! He tackled back, attacked down the flank and although he ran in circles a lot, didn’t concede possession THAT much!

I thought Jose was our best player yesterday. His skill when he took on the four Sunderland players, please do that more often. We should keep Enrique. Fox would be good cover.

Such a shame he’s being treated the way he is. He’s a perfect example of a player we all want at the club. He’s young, determined, puts his head down and gets on with the work, doesn’t vent to the press even when we’re trying to offload him, and he talks about how much he loves Newcastle……and he’s definitely 100% committed to the cause

Enrique and Fox will do for LBs for me..

    Beye and Taylor RBs.

Bassong, Coloccini, Taylor and Edgar in central defense.

Defense will be set for now, with the purchase of Fox.

    PS. Ship out Cacapa! 🙂

Ashley is mad for even saying he had something that may get the yellow ticker goin! Dont know whether he knew that the reporter would broadcast the email but us fans wud all be delighted IF a good signing came off but now we are all sat here WAITING FOR THE good signing to happen! If it doesn’t..hes a bloomin’ idiot!!

Most teams bar us and a few others have their squads sorted now and arent’t gonna let any players leave unless they are either expendable or receive an offer so good they cant refuse! Well we cant afford to make offers that cant be refused and players that are expendable tend not to be particularly good!

Greg P, what are you on about. Did u even watch the game yday.

Nolan was great, solid solid performance, didnt let the scum dominate the midfield and got forward towards the end. Shocking? You must be joking.

Enrique was quality, as he has been in about 70% games this season, fickle fans just use him as a scapegoat, leave him alone.

and like what others already mentioned, hes committed to the cause and thats why we should keep him. I believe that hes already adapting to the league(late, but always welcomed.

Jose Enrique is better than our last full backsss.

    better than babayaro
    better than zoggy
    better than bernard

and remember he is still 22 years old. he should be a long term player for NUFC. fox as our backup

when jonas and enrique booming the left sided…duff and taylor try to did the same on the right – good for the team.

Jose Enrique need to reduce his weekness of giving the ball away. (butt teach him that)

    Soccer
Have you ever been on a soccer field?
Well if you haven’t it’s the m amazing thing
It’s like being in heaven but on grass
When the grass is just cut and the potato bugs are jumping in the air it gives you energy to have fun

And if you have been on a field then you know how the freshly cut grass
stings your nose and enlightens your heart to give you extra strength to
play soccer harder than you ever have in your life. That is what it’s like being on a soccer field!
