Jonas Gutierrez – surprised at Sunderland strong-arm tactics
Jonas talked about the yesterday’s game today:
“It happened a few times, and some of their players were booked,”
“I can take it. I knew that when I came to England that players get kicked in the Premier League, especially in derby games.”
“But I was surprised that the referee didn’t produce a second yellow card at times.”
“I have no complaints, though. If I get kicked, and there is no intention that’s fine. It’s a contact sport.”
“I just want to work hard for the team, and I think I did that along with rest of the players.”
“I felt good in the game, but feel disappointed now because we didn’t win it for the fans.”
“I was told, in no uncertain terms, how important it was to win against Sunderland, but at least we showed some fight.”
“The performance in the second half was better, but in football the team that plays better doesn’t always win. So we have to take a point.”
The game next Saturday is again a very important fixture, away to bottom of the league West Bromwich Albion.
A defeat there is the very last thing we want because it will mean they gain 3 points on us, but a win would start to take us away from the bottom of the league, hopefully.
It would also give Newcastle fans some breathing room because we have no wins in our last 8 games, and we must break that duck very shortly.
We’re also hoping we’ll have Oba Martins, Ryan Taylor and Alan Smith available for that game, plus any player we get in before tonight’s 5:00 pm deadline today.
At least the new players will have had a week to settle in too, before the WBA game.
Comments welcome.

Comment #43Folks – put Ashleys email in context – it was friendly banter – he said it was difficult keeping anything secret from “you guys”(the press) and he hoped to have a suprise for Craig by the end of the day – it was just banter – havent you learned anything from the past?

Wonder if City told us theyd let him go once theyd got Given and have now screwed us over leaving ashley looking like a fool unless he pulls a rabbit out the hat!! Can imagine a lot of enquiries are being made bu newcastle at the mo and we are awaiting replies!!

Comment #65What was the point in that? David Craig in the snow, saying Ashley, Kinnear and Lambias were all sitting in a nice warm office “working hard”. Working hard on what?
Bet if there had been players undergoing medicals then he would have said a bit more…

Comment #7114.22 The Premier League has announced it will grant applications from clubs to complete transactions after the 5pm deadline today if there is email confirmation from the two clubs involved that a deal has been agreed in principle. The club signing the player must also satisfy the board that the prevailing weather conditions have prevented the signing from being completed by the deadline. That will keep us busy well into the evening then!
Thats teh official Stuff about delay
