We had wondered last night if Joe Kinnear wanted to complete four incoming deals for Newcastle or that number of deals included Given and Zog leaving Newcastle.
N’Zogbia – move to Wigan determines if Taylor comes the other way 🙁
But in a new interview in the Newcastle Journal this morning, it looks like Joe wants four players coming in today, including Ryan Taylor of Wigan Athletic.
Joe said last night:
“We’re looking to add four players before tomorrow,” “One of those is a striker.”
“And we have tried for one center-half, Sammi Hyppia, but Liverpool are not prepared to let him out.”
“I want to get somebody with experience because of the position we are in. “
“We have a very young back four and I just want somebody who is a good organizer.”
Kinnear was due to meet Mike Ashley after the game yesterday afternoon to finalize the finances available, and we assume that has been sorted out last night, with Joe and Dennis Wise presumably going all out to get their men today.
But of course Joe is always a little too optimistic and he admitted that some of the deals may not go through today:
“There could be a chance that the deals will break down but I don’t know.”
And as far as Ryan Taylor is concerned, he’s already on Tyneside, as a number of our readers had mentioned yesterday.
Joe talked about Ryan this morning:
“Ryan Taylor has been here for the last two days. He can play both full- back positions, wide positions and is a good player.”
“I’ll be disappointed if that falls through because we can’t agree a deal for Charlie.”
Whoops, so we were wrong in our earlier report when we said the Ryan Taylor deal was not dependent on Charles going the other way.
Well, Charles will be doubly disliked now, if he pulls out of the Wigan deal, so somebody please call him and tell him he’s right that Wigan is a much more ambitious club than Newcastle and are destined for the European Champions League.
Of course Wigan are way above Newcastle in the league right now and Geordie manager Steve Bruce has done a tremendous job for the Lancashire club in the last 12 months.
We’re hardly in any position to criticize Wigan, which we think is great little club, and very well run too.
Comments welcome.

Comment #130Gomis has had a season worse than Shola.
Not sure about him as a signing, one year he matched Cisse’s goals and Cisse had a shocker by his standards which is how Sunderland got him.
I hope you are right about him, I cant see his potential, he seems slow to me, always behind play.

Comment #135im sorry lads i really dont want johnson, id rather have 2 more nolans! johnson has a poor attitude, fine hes a quality player but the last thing we need is unprofessional players right now WE NEED PEOPLE WITH TOP ATTITUDES, he could very easily turn into a new zog, we need beetter attitudes

Comment #136I would buy Dave Kitson before Gomis, Kitson doesnt fit in with Stoke, he would in our game, we might get him for £4m, he scored 10-12 premiership goals at Reading which takes some doing with the team they had.

Said he’s a class player who will go on to play for England regular!

Comment #143Michael Johnson, Darren Bent, David Fox and Ryan Taylor would be perfect as long as only NZogbia and maybe Smith are outgoing.

Comment #146This is ridiculous, you’s are just making up rumours yourselves, absolutely no truth in most of them.
We won’t get Garcia, Veloso, Saviola or Gomis.
We might get Fox, Johnson, and some others we have no idea about.

Comment #147And WHO suggested Dave Kitson, mate, he doesnt even get into the Stoke side, behind the likes of mohadu sidibe, and you reckon we should sign him?

Comment #148Kinnear says – “We hope to sign two more players who I regard as big enough players to play for Newcastle.” This still depends upon Zog going – he is only just underatking medical and agreeing personal terms.

Comment #149Just to dispel a few myths – ask any Liverpool fan, Riise lost it a long time ago, Enrique is better now and will be in the future.
Rovers fans have told me Pedersen is rubbish and has been for the last season and a half. He’s lazy, doesn’t make an effort and his delivery’s gone downhill.
Dave Kitson is a good player, he’s certainly better than Ameobi. He’s an unfashionable player with a lot of people because he played for Reading and Stoke, tucked his shirt in and wore black boots. The only reason he doesn’t play under Pulis is because Pulis prefers big oafs who bungle through everyone to get to Delap’s throws. Kitson plays like a not-as-good Viduka, he’s got skill and grace with the ball at his feet. He’s English and has a great attitude and we’d get him for peanuts. Better than Ameobi, why not.
Don’t want Johnson either, app he’s in rehab for alcoholism – 8million for nothing but trouble, our night scene would be too tempting for him, no thank you very much.
I don’t want to speculate really, if I could I’d just turn my computer off and do something else until about 6 when all the signings will have been announced – but I CAN’T BRING MYSELF TO!!!!!
