Newcastle Still Pursuing Former Liverpool Player Luis Garcia

One thing we have to realize today is there will be many reports saying Newcastle are after lots of different players.

luis-garcia-5

Luis Garcia – Newcastle target today from Atletico Madrid

And we know Joe is trying to bring in as many players as he can, with a realistic target being another two, in addition to Lovenkrands, Nolan and Ryan Taylor.

Exactly who those players are we don’t know, but we’d guess he wants an experienced center-back, a winger to replace Zog, and another central midfielder.

The winger could well be former Liverpool player Luis Garcia, and there are reports that Joe is keen to bring the player  back to England today.

And of course Luis has already proved at Liverpool, that he’s more than a good player in England, and very experienced too.

Kinnear is even said to have confirmed yesterday that he had held talks with the former Liverpool attacker’s agent, but we have no idea if that news is accurate.

And the additional news is that Newcastle are trying to convince Atletico Madrid to take left full-back Jose Enrique in a swap for Garcia before the deadline falls at 5:00pm this afternoon.

That would be very difficult to do, and we’d like to see Jose stay on Tyneside, at least until the summer, and even beyond that because he again proved yesterday he improves as he gets more games under his belt.

But if Joe is trying to get Jose moved out it says that he will play Ryan Taylor at left back.

We think Garcia would be an excellent acquisition for the club.

What do you think?

Comments always welcome.

If we could get Luis Garcia and Veloso in by the end of today it would be great for us, a decent midfield!
Hypia and Dan Fox to come in today as well and I’ll be happy as larry 😉

Getting a body in by replacing a body ….hmmm not a bad idea to please the naive fans 😛

There may well be some truth in the Enrique deal.

We have Taylor, who can play LB and strong rumours Fox is on his way from Coventry.

JFK has never like Enrique, shame just had one of his better games too.

As good as Enrique CAN be, he is too inconsistant.

Even yesterday, one of his better days. It was when he went forward he caught the eye. Defensively he is still naive.

TRE – yeah but you can see he’s got potential to be a very good LB in time. If the club’s serious about youth then they really, really shouldn’t swap him for 30 year old Garcia

I really like enrique, but we’ve all got to be honest and in the situation were in at the moment we can’t carry any passengers, we need tough tackling, good positional defenders. Enrique clearly would work better in the spanish league anyway, he’s almost more of a wingback than fullback!

I thought Enrique had an excellent game yesterday. There’s no point in selling him at this stage, only to replace with someone less experienced. It’s like taking 2 steps back for 1 step forward!

Although, if Garcia plays in the hole behind our striker, then we could do with a playmaking forward!

Anyone not want to go to St James’ Park, be live on TV and shout for the players you want.

But I have one question, if Ashley is sitting watching ssn, who is signing players?

Enrique could potentially be a great LB, i’ve always thought that, but its clear JFK does not like him……i expect him to engineer some move to sell the Spaniard.

luis garcia is decent but aged 30. enrique is only 22, looked very strong yesterday and cost 6m. a straight swap doesn’t make much sense..

Hes a bull ! i think people get on him because he does make some stupid mistakes at times. He has pace of a horse and strngth of a bull. if only he had a good touch of a footballer ! however getting rid of hid wld be a huge loss and like tom1664 i will also cry like a little girl if we sell him off

I am not sure we NEED a Winger as priority.

We have got Ryan Taylor in (nearly) who can play either Wing.

We need more Striker, AM, LB. THEN a winger

why don’t we play him as a wing back then

3-4-3 or 3-5-2 would work well for us, gives us a sweeper and a linking forward player.

dinosaur joe won’t contemplate anything other than 442 though.

dont rate garcia at all, every time we played against liverpool, i never thought of him as a threat, he was mostly used as a sub at liverpool, there fans dont really rate him and saw it as good business when he left

    Only two more???
This is what JK said today

We’re looking for another two players on top of Kevin and Ryan,” said Kinnear.
“I’d originally earmarked four, and we’ve been chasing players for a while now.
Ideally, one of them would be a striker.”

toonaholic, i didn’t mean it like that appologies i’m not always the best communicator! I just meant a proper english defender, although bassong aint english he goes with the old if in doubt kick it out, and slides in whenever its needed, Enrique is prone to trying to do too much and passing it to their players. Like i say the guys got a lot of potential etc, but i’m just trying to think of how this deal could work (ever the optimist)
