The official Newcastle United site has posted some news that Oba Martins should be fit for the game at WBA on Saturday.
Oba – good news – back for the WBA game
The Nigerian striker has been out since scoring the second goal, in our only away win so far this season, the 3-0 win at Portsmouth in December.
Oba was operated on by the world famous groin surgeon Dr Ulrike Muschaweck at her clinic in Munich, Germany, in early January.
Joe Kinnear is obviously pleased with Oba being fit for Saturday, in a game we must win and cannot possibly afford to lose.
Joe said this afternoon to nufvTV:
“Hopefully we’ll have Oba fit for West Brom which is a big boost,” “His pace is always a massive threat and we’re looking forward to having him back.”
We are assuming there are still some signings to be announced by Newcastle, although the clock ticks on.
The transfer figures are have at the moment are that £14M has come into the club for Given and N’Zobia, and Newcastle have so far paid out £4M for Kevin Nolan.
The £6M fee for N’Zogbia included Ryan Taylor coming the other way, and of course Peter Lovenkrands was a free agent.
This means Newcastle are better off by £10M in the transfer window right now, but we still hopefully await more signings.
Things have gone awfully quiet on the official site, and some of the signings could well be delayed, because of the inclement weather in England.
We hope so, but the club had never been great for updating fans on what’s happening.
We’ll report any new signings as they are reported on the official site, but this is a bit like watching the clock tick by up the 12 noon in the movie High Noon – for those old guys reading this. :D.
