Nerwcastle Bid For Sunderland’s Richardson Yesterday

One of the pleasing things in this transfer window is at least the players Newcastle are going after are good players, who would improve the Newcastle squad.

Kieran Richardson – very cheeky bid from Newcastle

And one of the players Newcastle went after yesterday is Kieran Richardson of Sunderland, who has always been a good player.

He was outstanding when he went on loan to WBA in 2005, and was one of the players who kept West Bromwich in the Premier League that year, and he has shown great promise in the Sunderland side, and can score from free-kicks too, as we found out last year.

I’ve never seen a ball hit that hard, than the free kick he put home against Newcastle at The Stadium Of Light  last year, and from from a standing start!  That’s great technique, nothing else.

Newcastle wanted to take the former Manchester United and England international to St James’s Park, but what would have been an audacious move never came close to getting off the ground.

Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia revealed today:

“There was a cheeky enquiry, but it was never any more than that.”

“To be honest, we’ve had quite a few cheeky enquiries over the months that never got anywhere near getting off the ground and that was one of them.”

“Clubs are entitled to try it on if they want to, but I’ve made it clear that I want to keep my very best players at the club.”

Maybe the bid was made to upset Sunderland, but now that Kieran knows a much bigger club is after him than his present club, he could be swayed to join the famous Magpies in the summer.

Boy, that tongue is really getting into my cheek. 😀

If you want to unsettle a player you show interest on Jan 1st not the 31st.

He would be a good player for us, but Sunderland would never sell to us, especially since were fighting the relegation battle aswell, if we had of came in, someone else would of too, and Sunderland would accept their bid and reject our’s, so their was never going to be hope (If he was unsettled).

Personally I’m glad to see were bidding for quality English talent like Richardson and Johnson rather than looking at unknown quantities like M’Bia. Don’t get me wrong, M’bia looks a good enough player, but we already know how much of an impact English players can make in the Premiership.

I am personally happy with the transfer window.

1 outfield player out and 3 in (2 of which play multiple positions) – This gives the squad much more depth.

Yes we sold given, but if we didn’t get rid or Given or Harper then we would probably have lost Krul.

The squad will be more together now as we have players who want to play for us.

Yes we banked 8 – 10 million, but just cause its there does not mean it must be spent. If we had wasted it on Richardson, we would all be saying why didn’t we wait till the summer and get someone decent.

I am not Ashley’s biggest fan, but I feel he had been badly advised by Dennis Wise & Co. and hopefully come the next window they will be gone.

In the summer we will loose Viduka, Owen, Cacapa on Free’s and maybe sell Geremi, Smith, Barton.

That should be at least 6 – 8 million in transfer fee’s and about 350k per week off the wage bill. Good scope to bring fresh blood to the club and get some youngsters through.

I think the current wage bill is the biggest issue and not that we don’t have funds for transfers.

    Just my thoughts anyway…

I very much doubt we were serious about this transfer. They paid about 6m for him just over a year ago, he’s only 24 and plays for the scum.

I honestly believe that if the board REALLY wanted to bring more than 3 players in, they would have.

…anyway, he have Smith back now, and one more ‘new signing’ at the weekend (Oba), and 3 more in a couple of weeks (Guthrie, Cacapa and Viduka).

    …be alreet.

    HAWAY THE LADS!

    GK Harps, Krul, Forster

    LB Enrique, R.Taylor, Bassong, Edgar

RB Beye, S.Taylor, R.Taylor, Geremi, Edgar

CB S.Taylor, Bassong, Coliccini, Cacapa, Edgar

RM R.Taylor, Jonas, Duff, Geremi, Smith, Lua Lua, Lovendkrands

LM R.Taylor, Jonas, Duff, Lua Lua, Lovenkrands Enrique

CM Butt, Nolan, Barton, Smith, Geremi, Guthrie

CF Lovendkrands, Ameobi, Smith, Martins, Carroll, Owen, Ranger

Things are not so bad, that’s still a squad far far more equiped and talented than that of many teams above us in the league.

”If you want to unsettle a player you show interest on Jan 1st not the 31st.”

    HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA SPOT ON

But, seriously, that’s why I always say things in January are tight to deal with. Newcastle made mistakes in the Summer and that cost us something this time around. January is no way time to rebuild a squad as Newcastle were looking foward to do, it’s just a time to add a few more players and cover the team’s problems. The time to rebuild a team is in Summer, and it will be always a tough time when you don’t do that at that time.

Yesterday was a day with lots of feelings for me.

    1. My son was born!
    2. Disappointment in the club’s leaders once again.

Thank god my son is born healthy and well, cause that reminds me that NUFC is my favourite team in a simple game. It is not worth to get stressful during the transfer periods, but it is so hard to do not.

I hope my son will support NUFC in a couple of years time, but on the other hand I will not that he becomes as dissapointed as all of the fans every 2 times in a year.

Oh come on you lot always look on the bright side of life………….
Fat Cash has made himself another Fat little Profit!! As he has done in every transfer window since he bought the place…..
We have signed three players ahaead of any of the top ten teams who were clamouring for their signatures….mmm
He did invest the 20m he promised, didnt he?

Come n guys did nay body expect any different??

Lets all laugh at the folk on here who are actually saying they think he will invest all the profits from sales in the SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW…….Nowwwww….where have i heard that before??

lets just say, anybody who reads my posts, will no what I predicted approximately 6 weeks ago about this T Window….Outgoings would be much more expensive than incomings, a profit would be made, and Fat Cash Lamby arse and Little Den, dont give a flying what us lot think about it……lovely cheeky chappies they are!!

My new synopsis…….2-3 injuries before the end of the season and we are BIG BIG in the shite!! (Not that we are not already). This gamble is a bigger gamble than is punt on 17 on the roulette!! Anybody informed him of that??

I always said, a successful transfer window and I may look at it from a different angle….I neednt have bothered purjoring myself really…lol

So all I can see is a struggle for the remaining season, but i will be supporting what we’ve got 100%….BUT CASHLEY….FO…..and atke your 2 little cockney rent boys with you, you have nothing…..nothing at all for my football club!!

Ryan Taylor was pretty much already signed at the Sunderland game.

So really we signed no one on the last day.

Boring NUFC.. That’s what we have become.

No excitement anymore… We really are the same as the Smoggies, Fulham blah blah blah.

    Boring!!

Aye all the best Oba – fatherhood is a bit like supporting NUFC in that your child is something you cherish, love and worship but it has the ability to anger you, humiliate you, upset you and make you want to swap it for another when you know deep down that could never happen.

As far as Richardson goes, i wouldnt call “a cheeky enquiry”, officially submitting an 8 million pound bid for him. Its more contacting Sunderland “regarding the availability of kieran richardson” and them telling us where to get off near enough immediatly
