Ryan Taylor Already Looking For His First Newcastle Goal

24-year-old Liverpudlian Ryan Taylor will bring a lot to the Newcastle club, with his free kicks and long throw-ins, being just two of his specialities.

Ryan Taylor – can he score for Newcastle tomorrow?

We got a great deal for Ryan, with N’Zogbia going the other way to Wigan and Newcastle getting an additional £6M in the process. And Ryan is different to Charles, as he’s a mature guy.

And it looks like Ryan would like to score a goal or two for Newcastle, sooner rather than later.

Taylor told the Shields Gazette today:

“I’d like to think I’ll take some free-kicks,” “I want to take them, but there are good players here who will fancy them as well.”

“Obviously, with my history against this club, they realize what I can do.”

“I think I need to redeem myself after scoring four against Newcastle, and it’ll be nice to get that first one.”

“If it was from a set play, it would be nice to show the fans that I can do it for them as well.”

Taylor, who can play in either full-back position and on either wing, thinks his very first goal against Newcastle was the pick of his seven goals for Wigan.

On that day, back when Glenn Roeder was still manager, Ryan managed to beat Shay from 20 yards out, with a stunning volley, for the only goal of the game.

Taylor continued:

“They were all special goals for me, but my favorite would be the first one, which was my first Premier League goal. That meant a lot.”

“Every one of them has just been as nice, but the first one meant that little bit more as it was my first.”

“It was a 1-0 win, and despite everything that happened against Newcastle, it would have to be that one.”

“You go into every game thinking if you get a free-kick, you could score. With me, it just always seemed to be the same team all the time.”

Ryan has been warmly welcomed by Newcastle fans, because they appreciate that he’s both a good lad and a good player.

And he seems to have been an absolute bargain for the club, with his contract running out in the summer and Wigan either unwilling or unable to offer him the contract he wanted. And it seems he appreciates the bigger stage and opportunities at the Newcastle club.

We do have one or two who can rifle the ball into the net, but you can be sure Ryan will get a chance tomorrow, if we get a free kick around the penalty area – just imagine what it would be like if he rifled one into the net.   😀

Let’s hope so.

Comments welcome.

I think we will play him on the right since Jonas is suspended and Duff will move back to left wing

He’s look like a lad I went to school with called Jon Bell. Put a free-kick in the top corner Belly and you’ll be a legend from day one.

Ryan is just the player we need..he’s got an ecellent delivery from set pieces which we have lacked in our squad for a long while now…Good addition..Will be interesting to see if he starts nce we have a full squad…For me, Beye is still or number one right back so maybe he can fit in on the right instead off duff our maybe left back…we’ll see

A goal against WBA would be brilliant.
    An assist would be excellent.
A decent game would be an improvement on the crap we’ve had recently.

If the lads can show the effort of the 2nd half against the mackems in our remaining games I reckon we’ll survive.
    That’s a big if though 🙁

we loose this game we are as good as relegated, if we win, we go a long way to staying up, it really is that important. i am more nervous about this game than any other i can think of in years, i think its a game that will either save us or relegate us, honestly.

Duff will be one of our starting line-up today, Lovenkrand on the bench. Ameobi, Martins up front.

    No surprise at all.
