The Newcastle United Football Club has issued an update on the condition of manager Joe Kinnear tonight.
Smiling Joe Kinnear – no wonder that’s Ryan Taylor he’s with 😀
NUFC Statement – Update On Joe Kinnear:
=================
JOE Kinnear was admitted to hospital on Saturday morning after complaining of high blood pressure.
He underwent a series of tests during the day and the subsequent results have shown he is okay.
As a precaution, Joe will remain in hospital for observation for a couple of days and will then be discharged.
Joe missed Newcastle United’s 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion but was visited by Club directors and coach Chris Hughton after the game.
Joe said:
“I’d like to thank everyone who has been asking how I have been feeling.”
“Although I missed the game I had my grandson giving me a full commentary on the match.”
“It was a great win for us and I told Chris well done and to pass on my congratulations to the players, when he came to see me on Saturday evening.”
Managing Director Derek Llambias said:
“Joe was in good spirits and had been listening to the game all afternoon.”
“And in typical Joe fashion he was more concerned about the team’s win than himself.”
“He was nice and relaxed, and hopefully will be back home in a couple of days.”
=================
As we’ve said before, Joe should take the next 10 days off, since our next game is not until two weeks tomorrow.
It’s been a gruelling time for everybody at Newcastle, but Joe has taken the brunt of all the problems and pressure.
Whether you love or hate the man, you have to admit he’s doing his utmost to get Newcastle back on track again – after so many things have conspired against him and the team – let’s give Joe a break.
He deserves a rest, and when he comes back, the players should give him another boost – by winning against Everton. 😀

Comment #51Even though Joe Kinnear was never going to be good enough to be manager of Newcastle, i tip my hat to the bloke for his drive, enthusiasm and commitment to our cause.
He took the job when nobody elce had the balls to.
He may not be the best manager in the world, but at least the bloke had the gut’s and determination to help the toon out of a very bad situation. I realy admire JK for that.
JK is out of his depth, but he has made himself ill trying to do the best for the club.
I think he should step down and take a rest and let someone younger take over, ie, Steve Bruce

Comment #53There is no way Joe should be permanent manager. Ashley has gone into the “caretaker trap”, where the team gets a boost as soon as a manager leaves and whoever takes over gets a string of good results and is offered the job. Like Roeder. There is no way Joe Kinnear has the tactical knowledge to take the team to Europe, but I say he’s a pretty good motivator until we get ourselves sorted out.
Mike Ashley should look at his options in the summer, if there is a good manager availible then go for him. If not then I think Kinnear could do ok for another year and make a foundation for someone else to build on. It’s better too keep Joe than to get in someone else not up to the job. Then it’s the same mess all over again.
Anyway, he’s our man for now and we should support him as much as we can. There is no other candidate at the moment. Any manager is better than no manager. At least he’s trying.

Comment #74Cursed owner, cursed players, cursed luck.
Mike’s problem is communication. Get me right now, because I am a strong critic to the way the club has been run. But the biggest difference is that Ashley is realistic about our spending powers. At least he promise us very little. It’s his way of getting his buisniess right. It was a question of time before we would be the new Leeds under Fat Fred. Now Ashley has been hit by the financial crisis and he has little or no money to spend at the club. So be it, we can not compete against teams with many times his spending power. I think he’s acting in the best interests for himself and the club but he does not know how to do it right.
The fans here are so used to promises about big signings, and even used to spend a lot on big names. But I think, with the obvious exeption of the (only) £5 or 6mill signing of Xisco that we have made some very clever signings this season. That is way better than overpaying on wages and transger fees as we used to do.
The reson Ashley want Kinnear to stay is probably continuity, as changing manager every year is no way of running a club. Unfortunately it’s the wrong man he wants to stay.
My point here is that we would most likely be just as low in the league with Freddie Shepherd, and we would be broke.
I think we’re in a situation we just have to get used to. Face the fact that Kinnear is manager for now, and that Mike Ashley is the owner. We’re not a big spending club anymore, we have to be clever.
We just cannot look up at the teams on top of the table anymore. Right now we are a lower half team and have to build on that as best we can.
