Chris Hughton has been put in charge of first-team affairs at Newcastle United until further notice by Mike Ashley, due to Joe Kinnear’s heart problems.
Oba Martins – now fully fit following hernia operation
And Chris immediately got some bad news about injury-prone Xisco, who apparently has never been fully fit since he’s been on Tyneside.
Xisco hobbled out of the Reserve team’s 5-0 trouncing of Wigan earlier in the week, and he’s going to be out for almost 4 weeks with the toe injury he picked up late in that game, after looking more than impressive.
However, on the brighter side, £10M striker Oba Martins is fully fit agin and will be raring to go in Newcastle next game, at home to Everton a week come Sunday.
It’s a pity for Xisco, who was starting to find some decent form at Newcastle.
Martins will be itching to go after almost being ready for our last two game, but being ruled out, more as a precaution than anything else.
The Nigerian injured his groin when he poked in Newcastle’s second goal at Portsmouth on December 14, where we won 3-0, in another 6 pointer against a relegation side, and away from home too.
Oba didn’t do his usual somersault, but did a little samba dance, so we knew there was something wrong. 😀
Oba has been a big miss in the side, and it’s great to see him fit again.
