Oba Martins Fully Fit Again After Hernia Surgery

Chris Hughton has been put in charge of first-team affairs at Newcastle United until further notice by Mike Ashley, due to Joe Kinnear’s heart problems.

Oba Martins – now fully fit following hernia operation

And Chris immediately got some bad news about injury-prone Xisco, who apparently has never been fully fit since he’s been on Tyneside.

Xisco hobbled out of the Reserve team’s 5-0 trouncing of  Wigan earlier in the week, and he’s going to be out for almost 4 weeks with the toe injury he picked up late in that game, after looking more than impressive.

However, on the brighter side, £10M striker Oba Martins is fully fit agin and will be raring to go in Newcastle next game, at home to Everton a week come Sunday.

It’s a pity for Xisco, who was starting to find some decent form at Newcastle.

Martins will be itching to go after almost being ready for our last two game, but being ruled out, more as a precaution than anything else.

The Nigerian injured his groin when he poked in Newcastle’s second goal at Portsmouth on December 14, where we won 3-0, in another 6 pointer against a relegation side, and away from home too.

Oba didn’t do his usual somersault, but did a little samba dance, so we knew there was something wrong. 😀

Oba has been a big miss in the side, and it’s great to see him fit again.

Comments welcome.

What I want to know is why the hell is Hughton in charge and not Calderwood, Calderwood is a stronger personality and has actually managed before.

Jonas’ best position is definitely on the left!

I wonder if newcastle will try to swap Oba for bent again in the summer. If they offer cash aswell then i reckon redknapp might take it as long as Oba realises he is behind defoe, keane and pav.

Any more news on bryan robson?

Nando – You’d be lucky, everyone dispelled those rumours, Newcastle, skysports and BBC all said it didn’t happen but we tried to swap N’Zogbia for Bent, but you turned it down.

tomtoon- Goal scoring stats say you are wrong. All 3 are better players than Oba. Oba is unpredictable and scores the odd goal out of nothing(usually against spurs) but that is all. Tell me why nobody ever makes a bid for him .

Pavlyuchenko, russias’ no.2 and 2 goals in 13 prem appaearances, poor.

    Keane is amazingly overrated.

tomtoon- look at pavs overall record in the english game. Plus he played a full season in russia before joining us. Keane is only second to ronaldo in goals scored over the past 4 seasons. It amazes me you can cream yourself over Oba but say keane is overrated.

I suppose it is the old green eyed monster and all that.

I wouldn’t want Keane, the fu paid £12mil rising for a 29 year old is laughable.

Wow, Pavlyuchenko scored loads in the carling cup, he cant hit a brn door in the prem and looks useless and will always be Russia’s no. 2.

tomtoon- your lack of knowledge is amusing. I suppose you know more than redknapp.haha. If oba was better than those 3 we would have bought him instead as he would have been cheaper. We will have to agree to disagree but i tend to listen to what top managers and pundits think of the players not some kid with a fetish for youtube.

bennytoon, you shouldn’t berate others for their lack of knowledge when you have made some real howlers yourself. Your knowledge of the game is pretty shallow and media driven.
