Fabricio Coloccini, our Argentine Internatioanl, has talked today about hoping that the win against WBA, will signal the turning point of the season for Newcastle United.
Fabricio Coloccini – turning point of the season?
And while the win was important to give Newcastle some breathing room at the bottom of the table, defender Fabricio Coloccini has admitted it was achieved with their missing manager in mind.
The Argentine International said:
“Beating West Brom was also important because we wanted to win for Joe Kinnear,” “When somebody is out of action like that you need to show that you remember them, and winning is our way of doing that.”
“Hopefully we will look back at the end of the season and feel that this was the turning point.” “The other good thing is that we have had a break before the next game, so we can think about the errors we made as well.”
“We know what wasn’t good about the game, and now we can train harder.” “We showed fight against West Brom. There were lots of goals, but we managed to emerge as the winners.”
“Beating West Brom was very important for us. They are down there with us, and we had to put some daylight between us.” “I think this can give us something to build on, and we can now look forward.”
During that game Fabricio showed some good form, and when things get tough the Argetine usually comes through for the Magpies.
Coloccini has had a period of some poor form, but hopefully he is getting back to form and certainly seems to play well with 22 year-old Sebastien Bassong.
Kinnear is expected to be away from St James’ Park for at least eight weeks, but don’t be surprised if he shows his face on the training ground way before that, but not to take the training.
Joe is the kind of committed guy you just cannot keep away.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41sirjasontoon- It was good to see what you finally look like on the front of todays sun. I must say though that 13 is a bit young to be fathering children. Fair play though as i didnt even kiss a girl til i was 16. Shes a bit rough though. I suppose beggars cant be choosers though.

Stardust defending Ashleys buys again.
Thats what this is about.
It’s clearly obvious to most people that Colo has made many mistakes and made to look slow or out of position.
I am conducting a study at University about the playing relationship between Colo and Taylor and have just been awarded a distinction for my findings. Diego Maradona has contacted me recently and he has requested a copy because he was so impressed. That is why Colo was dropped from the Argie side.
The conclusion to my study was that Colo is out of the hair bear bunch. His mop of hair gets in his eyes at the front and gets trapped under his feet at the back, thus causing him to lose half a yard, every yard.
My solution to the problem was recommended to Mr Maradona and that was to buy a pair of scissors and cut off his mop.
You ‘ve got to love the truth Stardust!! I win everytime.

I agree with you that Colo looks a far better player when Steven Taylor is sat in the stands. He is taking a while to adjust though – the aerial aspects are something he has had a few problems with. His reading of the game is pretty good though – what I don’t want to see happen is people getting on his back if he does make a mistake – that will just shatter his confidence ..No-one wants another Boumsong on our hands. I sincerely hope he will improve and become the mainstay of the defence with more games he plays & not having S. Taylor will help that improvement & confidence process significantly.
Taylor is good at the one-off tackle etc, but his positional play is apalling

Come on – give the lad a break. Colo needs a confidence boost – I’m sure he’s finding the English game quicker & more physical than in Spain. He’ll get there…….
In anycase, I’d rather have him in the team than Taylor or Cacapa

Comment #46He’s had his ups and downs but CB is a tough position to try and ajust to in the prem. The fact that we have no decent DM hurts our CBs in my opinion. They are forced to come out to far to defend

Comment #47anyone who criticises Collo has a very short memory! apart from woodgate, name a centre back we have had better than him in the past 10 years?
Simple, ive seen enough of him this season to see that he is a quality player but is being made to look bad (sometimes!!! i think we need a bit of perspective here as well!) as he is playing in a poor team low on confidence!
Simple…as…that!
Get of peoples backs man and support the team!!

Comment #49MDS – good shout there re DM . Plus our defence comes under pressure from our giving the ball away carelessly…..Nicky Butt especially prone to this.

Comment #50Nobby – for my sins I am friends with Troy – he comes on here and posts all kinds just to get me biting.
The most bizarre thing is he uses everything anti Ashley to get me to type and he is a bigger Ashley fan than me – geordie humour I suppose.

Comment #51I remember Tomtoon saying Collocini would be as good as Maldini of Ac Milan. I dont think he has looked to clever. Youtube crams all the players best bits into a short clip and shouldnt be used to judge a player imo.,

Comment #55I can correct your lies again. I said, mianly in jest, Kadar has the potential to be as good as Nesta.
I have never mentioned Maldini and Coloccini in the same sentence, just more lies from you.

Comment #56tomtoon- you cant keep going back and changing your opinion on players just because they turn out crap. Give the lad time and he might turn out as good as Maldini. I havent given up hope that you will unearth a talent on youtube just yet. You obviously love your youtube hobby and enjoy impressing us with your roll off the tongue foreigners so dont be such a defeatist.

Comment #58Well what have we learnt this week? Firstly sirjasontoon has a thing for vintage bikes. The tramp who used to live in the bushes near my old school also had a vintage bike. I think it was because he couldnt afford a car.
Tomtoon has a short memory. He talks about so many differrent players off youtube that the little mite forgets who he likes. Dont worry Tom i dont mind trawling the archives to jog your memory.
Then we had Westoons daily rants. He has aquired the nickname of My Shadow as he waits for me to post then has a massive rant about geordie women and other rubbish. I fear for the lads blood pressure.
And finally we had the heart warming story of the 13 year old child who has become a father. The story filled Ronaldeano with renewed hope that he too could one day lose his virginity. Ronaldeanos main worry was that his pecker was to underdeveloped but lets be honest it cant be smaller than a 13 year olds can it?
Enjoy your weekend fellas. And dont sit to close to the monitor tom or you will get square eyes.

Comment #60he’s been ok for his first season, might look a bitter better if the back four actually got some protection from our midfield tho.
I’d expect him to look a lot better next season if we’re still in the premiership and to look outstanding if we’re in the championship!

Comment #61To blame Taylor for Coloccini’s cockups is laughable, but he makes an easy scapegoat. Its not Taylor’s fault that Coloccini is slow and poor in the air. I’m not Taylor’s biggest fan but to attribute Coloccini’s mistakes down to him is ludicrous. I guarantee that if Taylor had made the same blunders as Coloccini then most people on here would be giving him tons of abuse. Coloccini isnt the worst defender we’ve ever had, but he has a long way to go to prove himself.

Comment #62@beenytoon – apparantly that 13 year old dad is a spurs fan!!!
to be honest he looks about 10, the parents should be prosecuted, I bet they’re a lovely couple – actually more like single parents no doubt on benefits, smoking weed and drinking special brew all day.
Have a good weekend all

Comment #63steven taylor looks a better RB than CB, so i would put ryan taylor in competition with enrique at LB(who is btw getting more confident every game). colo and bassong is our strongest CB pair, so basically our back line picks itself. our midfield also picks itself (whoever is fit plays!) now we have at least two players in almost every position, i think the future looks brighter than it appears at the moment. give the armband to nolan if butt is not playing.

Comment #64Colo has not impressed many this season, but he’s in a bad team that changes week in, week out. He was not selected by Argentina this week and can only assume Maradona didn’t like what he seen from Colo this season either.
He doesn’t appear to have the pace but let’s make judgement at seasons end when hopefully we’re still a PL side……

Comment #65Colloccini in a settled line up, playing with confidence and better players around him i.e. Beye, Barton etc will show he is world class.
He has had to put up with a changing line up, pathetic tactics and a club in turmoil in his first year!
If we survive which is still a big if, next season hopefully he will experience a more settled line up, decent management and a steady club making progress. Then I think we will see the Fabricio that has been regarded as a world class player for club and country.

Comment #67I’m bloody sick of some people here slagging off our players so quickly. “Too slow”, “Can’t pass”, “Can’t shoot”, “Can’t score”, “Can’t tackle”….
Coloccini played in Argentina and in Spain, and a little bit in Italy. As soon as he arrived to Newcastle, KK was gone, and the sh!te is still all around the club. And he is supposed to be the main defender straight away, never to make a mistake and to be as good as Vidi? in every game, is he? Give him a chance, because you’re unlikely to see a better defender in black and white in the years to come!
Fcuk it, I’m out of here…
