Alan Shearer has come out today and said he thinks his home town club will survive in the Premier league for this season.
Alan Shearer – sees goals in current Newcastle side
It’s really sobering when the good news may be that the club avoids relegation for the season, and it’s high time we started to build the club up again so we can have a good shot at securing a European place again.
Shearer was speaking today to The Sun, and he said:
“I look at those clubs staring at the drop and I can’t see goals in a lot of them.”
“But I can see goals in this Newcastle team and that’s why I believe it is too good to go down – and won’t.”
Shearer says lessons must be learned from this season, which is one of the worst ever for the club, and it’s clear that our image had taken a complete hammering this season, with all the bad things that have happened, since last September.
Shearer added:
“Then we will need to really start again because, to be quite frank, people have been laughing at this club this season.”
“There have been a load of mistakes both on and off the pitch and everyone has to learn from them.”
We’d love to see Shearer try to help out at the club by maybe doin g acouple of days a week coaching at the club, but Alan may have been completely turned off by the antics of Mike Ashley, who has hardly covered himself in glory these last 5 months, and has taken the club to it’s lowest ebb for many a year.
Alan seems confident that Newcastle can get another 12 points which he thinks will be good enough to ensure their Premier League survival for this season.
Shearer continued:
“The pressure will be on Newcastle more than any of the others because of big club syndrome.”
“The club are going to need at least three wins and three draws.”
Newcastle are currently 13th in the league on 27 points, four points ahead of Blackburn Rovers, who are 3rd bottom.
And with injured players on the way back we should be able to do a lot better than of late.
But to stay up, we will need to do a lot better than of late.
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #121Harper – untested over a season but seems to be decent.
Enrique – Shown potential to be very competent but is inconsistent. Still have hope for him cos he’s young.
Colo – Shown to be incompetent and have no hope for him cos he’s old enough to have developed.
Bassong – Shown some great defending displays, been naive at times, but so far Ashley’s best buy!
Stephen Taylor – all over the shop in defence, but one of the best attacking defenders in the league. He is not consistent enough but easily worth another season because of his age.
Ryan Taylor – lets wait and see. I won’t make judgement on him yet.
Jonas – Work rate second to none. Defensive qualities outstanding. As an attacking winger who should produce crosses, shots, goals – abysmal!
Barton – not impressed, never produced for us.
Nolan – too early but having read the Bolton blogs, they were not too bothered he left. In the main, said he had a fantastic season 2005/2006 and was made capt. but since has been rubbish and had lost his place. He looks over weight to me.
Butt – finished.
Guthrie – workhorse, no class
Duff – been hopeless since he arrived. I think we’ve seen the best of him this season but way below his prime. He’s hanging on to his shirt by the skin of his teeth for me.
Lovenkrands – had a tidy and effective game against WBA. Quite surprised cos he had to have a trial before he got a contract. Rangers fans say he was inconsistent and thats in the Scottish league 4 years ago! open minded but not expecting great things.
Owen – I’m still one of his fans who think he should be kept. Yes, I know all his faults but if you want to attract the best players, you have to have the best players already there. His goal record is second to none. goals per game that is.
Give him a new lucarative contract!
Oba – My favourite player. Heart of a lion, never gives in, always looks for goal, improving by the game, touch getting better. I don’t know if he would get in a top four side, but where we are, he is the best of a bad bunch.
Viduka – class but sell. Heart of Stardust!
Shola – not class and sell. Heart of Stardust.
Carroll – So far so good. Early days but reminds me of a young Duncan Ferguson. If he is coached right and has the heart and professionalism he will have a great career in the top flight, hopefully with us, though Ashley will probably sell him to make a profit.
God i’m bored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

…yeah oba_9, unless Redknapp starts giving him a a starting place he’ll deffo be off. I can remember we tried to get him when he was at Ipswich about 5 years ago – we offered 2m for him and Ambrose, they said FO, we got Ambrose 😀
Jason Roberts or McCarthy would be good to have for next to nowt.
Benjani at Man shitty is almost certainly not gona get any more chances now the club is run by tools – I’d consider him on the cheap.
Also, Fraiser Campbell is fkn wasted on loan to Spurs. There’s a talent. I’d try to snap him up before every other c*nt realises his potential.

Milner is way better than Jonas
Milner 4 goals 5 assists
Jonas O goals 2 assists
Zog way better than duff or jonas. If the managers had played him in his preferred role of left wing consistently then he wouldn’t have whinged on. Can you imagine being a trained carpenter but the gaffer makes you plumb toilets for four years! Too right I would gan mad!.
Given – best keeper in the league. That Man City debut was awesome!! Harper is ordinary compared to him! face facts.

Comment #125Troy i agree with most of that
Owen – if he stays or goes i am not bothered it is down to him , not had value for money
Smith – Probably will do a good job somewhere but we are not getting any value for money
Duff – Much the same
I think Barton could be good for us but he is starting to look as injury prone as Viduka.
I like the Villa set up – not too many on stupid money there and all young
Enrique has everything – If he can get some consistancy he will be as good a left back about

Comment #130Rodzilla – Campbell fits the Bill- Young, gonna get better – won’t lose money on him?
If you buy players with resale values then even when they want to leave you still make money (zog and Milner).
How often do Ferguson and Wenger lose money on a player?

Comment #133One thing’s for sure arekn, either Campbell OR Bent will be going to another club in the Summer. I’d have either. Long time to go yet though mate! I reckon we just need to scrap like fk for the rest of the season. It’s gona be ugly, let’s face it. Build up the backbone (Nolan, Guthrie, Butt, Harper, Spiderman, Bassong, Beye, Barton, Butt, R&S T, Colo, Jose), spend about 20m in the Summer (coz we will stay up, fksake), then challenge for top 6 next year.

Comment #134Rodzilla you are on drugs!
Only two players in that enclosed bracket of yours should be in any toon team of any worth.
Beye, Bassong and i’m still giving Enrique a chance!
The rest are absolute mediocrity at best.

sorry lads but i dont think shearer is helping the situation with his comments,, if he was a true fan he would be there like a shot saying i will look after thing till joe gets back,,, knowing that joe is not comming back,
i dont care what he thinks about cashly or rat boy wise, the club is bigger than both of them, and like i say , he will have nothing to loose.
he is the only fan out of all of us that could walk up to them and say ill look after things,, i think he should just keep his mouth shut ,
he is just feeding the suthern gutter press with stuff that we already know..
he still a legend , but should just keep shtumm,,,, imo
