Owen Making Good Progress With Ankle Injury In Portugal

Good news today regarding Michael Owen from Portugal, that the England striker has made good progress in his comeback from an ankle injury, picked up at Manchester City last month.

Michael Owen – good news ion his ankle injury

The Newcastle captain has been working out with fitness expert John Green, during an intensive week of training over in Portugal, accompanied by his wife and three young children, as they take some time out for a break.

But Michael has been working hard each day, with a run every morning at 8:00 am, and then he visits the gym at 4:00 pm for a through workout, and more rehabilitation exercises with Green.

This is somewhat like the summer spell Shay Given had in Spain with his family while our former goalkeeper tried to recover from his groin injury, and that seemed very successful too.

Green helped Michael recover from his anterior cruciate ligament knee injury, from the World Cup in Germany back in 2006, so they have worked together before.

Speaking about Green when he was recovering from his knee injury, Owen had said:

“Everyone agreed I needed one-on-one attention to make sure my recovery was right, so Glenn Roeder introduced me to John.”

“We hit it off and it went from there. John has made it enjoyable and, thanks to him, I shall come back stronger.”

“His particular area of expertise is what is called high-level functional rehabilitation.”

Michael is due to return for our game at Bolton a week on Saturday, so we expect Michael will now be fit for that relegation 6 pointer.

…hey lads, anyone know what a hyphen means on this blog? Tom_Toon posted merely a ‘-‘ after my post on a previous blog. Is this derogatory or am I just being over-defensive/paranoid? I know certain individuals can appear quite condescending at times on this blog

…and yeah, be good to see Owen back, even if he is an out of form dwarf. Big target man in the Summer please!

Tom_toon does that from time to time when his posts are not showing, as a bit of a test. I do not think he means anything offensive by it.

Owen is likley to be hit hard by the Stanford scandal, maybe he’ll hurry up and sign the new contract after all 🙂
