Everton Game Will Be Tough Test For Newcastle

There’s no doubt that Everton are a very difficult team to play, at any time.

Jonas Gutierrez – back from suspension for Sunday

Everton will be missing some of their players on Sunday and they include Tim Cahill and Tony Hibbert, who both picked up their 5th yellow cards last week against Aston Villa, and will (thankfully) miss the game on Sunday.

Everton have also been very good on their journeys this season and in their 12 league games away from home, they have won 7 and only lost 3, so they will be coming to win the game at St. James’ Park.

On the good side, Newcastle have players coming back and Chris Hughton will have some selection problems, but this is the team we’d like to see Chris put out for Sunday:

Harper
S Taylor Coloccini Bassong Enrique
R Taylor  Butt  Nolan  Guitierrez
Martins Lovenkrands
Subs: Krul Cacapa Edgar Geremi Duff Ameobi Viduka

Hughton has a few things to mull over with his team selection.

Now that Gutierrez is available, Chris will have to choose from Jonas, Duff and Ryan Taylor for the wing positions.

Of course he could play Ryan at right back in place of his namesake Steven Taylor, and then play Jonas and Duff on the wings. Duff had a good game at WBA and has looked sharp during the last few games, so it would be a little unfair if he didn’t make the starting eleven on Sunday.

In attack Chris will need to select from Martins and Viduka, both fit again, Ameobi, who has a very good game against WBA, and new boy Peter Lovekrands.   Andy Carroll is still not fit and Xisco is injured again.

We are going for Martins and Lovenkrands, because Peter looked so good at WBA, and we know Martins can score goals.

But Chris may want to start Lovekrands and Shola again, and bring in Martins at some time during the game. It will still take Viduka some time to become fully match fit, and unfortunately before then, Mark will probably get injured again.

Who makes the substitutes bench is also interesting and we cannot find room for Alan Smith, but we’d be surprised if Chris doesn’t find a place for him on the bench.

Our thinking is that we need Edgar and Cacapa as defensive reinforcements, in case they are needed, but Chris may well have Smith in there for Edgar, since Ryan Taylor can always play full back on either side.

So Hughton certainly has some selection posers for Sunday, and the bench will be strong, and will give Chris and Colin Calderwood some options during the game. That has to be good news for Newcastle fans.

Who do you think should start on Sunday? Let us know – comments welcome.

In sunday I think Chris go with,

    —–Harper—–
    S.Taylor–Bassong–Colo–Enrique
    R.Tay–Butt–Nolan–Jonas
    Ameobi–Martins

for sure, and I will argue if he decision to do like this.

For me I prefer 4-3-3 too

    —–Harper—–
    S.taylor—Colo—Bassong—Enrique

    R.taylor– Nolan — Jonas

    Martins–Viduka–Duff

we’ll get more dangerous in Set piece and Aerial ability too,

Everton will be tough to break down so, start with the pace of Martins and Loven and then if that fails bring on Viduka to mix it up with his strength and close control. Them missing Cahill is a huge boost, but we will have to keep Arteta under control and furthermore we cannot give away silly free kicks as they will punish us if we do. That’s why I think we need R.Taylor at the back as S.Taylor has a habit of giving away silly set pieces in dangerous positions, that allows us to play Duff and Jonas on the wings. It will be tough but if they play with passion and we get behind them then we can get something form this.

For me Duff & Lovenkrands were our best players against WBA so they both need to start against Everton.

And against Sunderland the Jonas & Enrique partnership looked sooo good down the left but Duff looked lost on the right wing and I dont think that really worked.

I would like to see a 4-5-1 as we could then accomodate Duff and Jonas on the left:

    ——————Harper———————-
    -Taylor—Taylor—Bassong—Enrique-
    ——————-Butt————————-
    ———–Nolan———Jonas————–
    Lovenkrands——————Duff———
    ——————Martins———————

Bench: Krul, Colo, Cacapa, Geremi, Smith, Ameobi, Smith, Viduka

However I expect the team will be as you predict though I think Duff will get the nod instead of R.Taylor:
    —————–Harper——————-
    Taylor—-Colo—-Bassong—Enrique
    Jonas——Butt—–Nolan—-Duff—-
    ——-Lovenkrands—-Martins——-

Some of you know absolutely nowt about football min you Chris Hughton has not picked a decent team in his life so you are not out of place.
How you can find a place in the squad gor cacapa and geremi is beyond me and some clowns even think viduka is worthy of a start.
    Harper
    R. Taylor
    Colo
    Bassong
    Jose
    Jonas
    Butt
    Nolan
    Duff
    Oba
    Shola

Everton game will only be hard beacuse they wont come for a open game. They will want us to attack and play on the break or look to a set piece. They are a really boring side.

Jesus Butt shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting line up. I’d Like this:

    Harper
    R Taylor Colo Bassong Enrique
    Jonas Geremi Nolan Duff
    Oba McLoven

Geremi can still do a job in the centre imo and is far better there than on the wing. At least he can pass better than Butt.
