Nicky Butt has admitted today that the arrival of new boys Kevin Nolan, Ryan Taylor and Peter Lovenkrands has given the Newcastle squad a big lift.
Nicky Butt – three new lads have given us a big lift
The new signings all played a massive part in the important 3-2 win at WBA almost two weeks ago, and will be set to do the same again on Sunday, in our difficult game against Everton.
And current captain Nicky Butt says that the increased competition for places, and the presence of the new lads, has come as a boost for the Newcastle squad.
Nicky talked today to nufcTV about the three new lads:
“It has definitely given us a lift,” “And if they’re in your position you have to step it up a little bit which is good for the squad.”
“All three have done fantastic and have fitted in straight away.” “They are all good lads and get along well with the rest of the boys.”
“They’re very experienced and have already shown why we bought them.”
While three players in January was not enough, the players we brought in have definitely improved the squad, and for just £5.5M, they were a bargain.

Comment #4Spiderpig – you not been watching the lads playing.
He came within inches of scoring against the mackems and scored against west brom and would have netted more except Duff fluffed the passes.
I got a feeling echoes of Peter Lovenkrandz will echo around SJP on Sunday.

Comment #7hope so.hope he is our new heroe.just wouldnt pair him alongside oba at home when a well organised team like evertons will sit back, try and get a goal and protect it.need viduka in with oba or loven.we can then at least hold the ball up for the team to get forward.

Comment #8I am with spiderpig on this this one. For me lovenkrands is competing with Jonas and Duff for two stating places and I favour Jonas and Duff. Away from home maybe all three could play if we go with a five midfield. Lovenkrands is not a striker.

Comment #9a think Viduka and Martins for Everton like, and maybe bring Lovenkrands on later on in the game, for Oba because a cant see him last the whole 90*, and should be more fit for Bolton, member last year, over head kick 😉 !!

Comment #11Well Lovemeister has made a good start, if he maintains the standard set against WBA and the glimpse against Sunderland, then I see him as replacing Martins in our team.

Comment #12I think we might start with Oba and Loven upfront as they both got pace and use Bambi and the Dukes as back up for when they are knacked.

Comment #14Lovenkrands is versitile can play both up front, winger, or inside midfield, as can Duff, this is a plus as both can score.
Also as with N`Zogbia, when playing to gether can interchange wing to inside midfield, gives the manager more options and confuses defenders.
I think both Beye and Enrique could also play on the wings as both do a decent job when attacking.
