Newcastle Confirm Owen’s Minor Groin Surgery

Chris Hughton confirmed after the game yesterday that Michael Owen has indeed undergone another small hernia operation.

Michael Owen and Danny Guthrie – two of our missing players

The People had reported this yesterday, as a really big deal, almost as a conspiracy, but Chris today acknowledged that Michael has had a minor operation, but not in Munich Germany, as was reported yesterday.

But hey, The People must be happy that at least part of one of their stories yesterday was actually true, which is rather unusual. 😀

Michael Owen remains on course to make Newcastle’s March 14th trip to Hull City, and we saw him at the game again yesterday, where’s he’s been in the stands far too much this season with injury.

The England International has appeared 23 times for Newcastle this season, and this is his most productive season in terms of playing, in his four seasons on Tyneside. But there has to be a lot of fans who think he is just too injury prone for the massive money he gets at Newcastle.

Chris said today:

“Michael Owen has gone through a period of rehab on his ankle injury, and also had a very minor groin repair operation,”

“It certainly hasn’t hindered or increased the period of time he’ll be out. We are hoping he will be training within the week and available for the Hull game.”

We look forward to Michael returning in two weeks, and we are also now interested in when Danny Guthrie can be available from his hamstring injury, as we know he’s been in light training for a couple of weeks now.

It would be good if Danny can step in for Kevin Nolan next Sunday at Bolton.

Comments welcome.

Couldn’t really care less to be honest, rather play Viduka and Oba up top.

I doubt any of the management have the balls to play 4-3-3 anyway!

More bothered about Guthrie than MO.

So when did he knack his groin then? Yet again another frustrating situation which really gets on your tit end.

Hull Tottenham tonight. I aint got Setanta anymore so wont be watching it. I would ideally say a draw or Hull win to do us a favour.

We should not start with Ameobi in every reason. — ” — . Don’t worry about Owen, as long as we have Martins stay fit.

Sell Owen to Steptoe and Son. Hope to See Guthrie back real soon. I was not disappointed on Sunday as we did well with only 10 men. Bassong was great but 0-0 and we tried 4 or 5 strikers? Well – one of them was Smith! The point is it was a point sorely needed and well deserved against a side who are no pushover.

We need Owen back and playing up front with Oba – Ameobi was poor yesterday to say the least !

I thought Enrique played well yesterday though. Best I have seen him this season.

Can’t understand the TV people though giving man of the match to Butt, at least they got it right at the match and gave it to Bassong !

MO will be a sub at the Hull game and he will be broken in gently to get back to match fitness – well thats my guess anyway.

Bolton / Stoke / Hull = 9 points and closer to that safety level.

Martins is the new star in our team, alongside with Jonas!

Let MO go, we can get 2-3 players with his wages.

If Owen were a horse they’d have melted him down for glue by now. He’s crocked and his heart is not with newcastle (If it ever was) 🙁

Whether he’s injured, on high wages, or lacking the ‘heart’, he is BY FAR our best finisher.

On his day he is the best in the prem.

Would be gutted to see him leave.
