Chris Hughton confirmed after the game yesterday that Michael Owen has indeed undergone another small hernia operation.
Michael Owen and Danny Guthrie – two of our missing players
The People had reported this yesterday, as a really big deal, almost as a conspiracy, but Chris today acknowledged that Michael has had a minor operation, but not in Munich Germany, as was reported yesterday.
But hey, The People must be happy that at least part of one of their stories yesterday was actually true, which is rather unusual. 😀
Michael Owen remains on course to make Newcastle’s March 14th trip to Hull City, and we saw him at the game again yesterday, where’s he’s been in the stands far too much this season with injury.
The England International has appeared 23 times for Newcastle this season, and this is his most productive season in terms of playing, in his four seasons on Tyneside. But there has to be a lot of fans who think he is just too injury prone for the massive money he gets at Newcastle.
Chris said today:
“Michael Owen has gone through a period of rehab on his ankle injury, and also had a very minor groin repair operation,”
“It certainly hasn’t hindered or increased the period of time he’ll be out. We are hoping he will be training within the week and available for the Hull game.”
We look forward to Michael returning in two weeks, and we are also now interested in when Danny Guthrie can be available from his hamstring injury, as we know he’s been in light training for a couple of weeks now.
It would be good if Danny can step in for Kevin Nolan next Sunday at Bolton.
