If You’re Not Giving 100% Geordie Fans Will Let You Know

The hard fought draw on Sunday ensured Newcastle are now unbeaten in three games, and England Under 21 captain Steven Taylor expects Newcastle fans to keep demanding 100% from their team.

Steven Taylor – always gives 100%

Steven talked to the Daily Express today:

“You’re at a massive football club and the fans will slate you if you show even the slightest sign of pulling out of something,”

“If you’re not giving it 100 per cent, they’ll let you know. You’ll get found out. The fans aren’t stupid.”

“On thing we’re not going to do now is sit back and let teams come on to us. We’re going to take the game to the opposition.”

It would be great if Newcastle can take the game to the opposition from now on, because we have some decent attacking players, although nobody would have believed that in the first half on Sunday where we looked terribly disjointed.

Newcastle didn’t really play well in the Everton game, and we have to thank our defense for pulling us through that game with some sterling performances from the lads at the back.

All back four played really well with Bassong and Coloccini looking majestic in central defense, and young Jose Enrique looking like a really good player who certainly has a big heart. Jose is even looking like he may be worth the money we paid for him – and that’s good news.

But there’s a spirit and fight in this Newcastle side, and they never know when they’re beaten – and that should help us in the crunch games coming up.

Steven hasn’t had a great season this year, and he gets more than his share of criticism from the fans – not sure why – but you can never accuse Steven Taylor of not giving 100% for his home town club.

It would be great to see Steven show some good form form now through the end of the season, since he seems more than able to form a good right wing partnership with his best pal – Ryan Taylor.

We love to see the spirit in the Newcastle side these days – now we need some additional quality through the door during the summer, and enough new players so we can get through our next injury crisis when it comes next  season – which it will.

Things may not be as bad as they have looked over the last few months – hope so anyway.

Howay The Lads!!

Ed – I was at the game – I thought we played quite well in the first half though I missed the first 5 minutes. Overall I thought we were in total control – funny how you get different perspectives according to where you watch it.

Im Steven Taylors biggest critic, but he had a better day at the office on Saturday.

if taylor had a football brain as big as his heart, he would become the defender we all hoped he would. times like now he is good to have in the team though, and this is a good comment to make. there’s a few players who should take note of what he’s said.

    Toon graeme,

    Club Insider –

She was telling me she used to sit higher up in the corner. So you can imagine what I was like – lots of singing and shouting and the occassional naughty word chucked in. Well passionate place – passionate people as the slogan goes.

    No brainer as you say.

    Toon Greame,

LOL – i like your style – to be honest it would have just made me sing louder and swear a little bit more too !!! 😀

There are people that sit by us and to look at them you would think they were forced to come week in week out ! Like you say passionate place – everyone feel the passion for god sake !!! 🙂

Taylor had a very decent game on Sunday….

looks much better going forward than he has in the past….if he starts thinking about his game and playing for the team, he will improve leaps and bounds…..

Shola needs to be taken out of the firing line…..

Looking at the lad on Sunday, he does not look fit…..
Granted he had a poor game but constantly mocking the lad aint gonna do his confidence any good…..
    Stint in the reserves required

How many times in the last 10 years or so can we honestly say “we have to thank our defense for pulling us through that game with some sterling performances from the lads at the back”. How many times have we had a good defence?? Its good to see, just need to mid sorted out now. 🙂
