Joey Barton Out For Another 4 Weeks At Least

It seems that Joey Barton will not be back in the Newcastle side for quite a while.

SUNDERLAND V NEWCASTLE

Joey Barton – still 4 weeks until he’s back

Chris Hughton talked about Joey Barton today, and the news is not too good:

“There is no chance of Joey being back in early March,”

“He’s still probably four weeks away. He’s still wearing the surgical boot, he’s not allowed too much movement.”

“I feel for Joey because it’s one of the most frustrating injuries. There isn’t so much you can do.”

“He can work upper body but once he gets the boot off, he can do some more work. I think it’s the type of injury that tends to be a set time.”

Joey has another metatarsal fracture in his foot, which he had last year too, and those tend to take some time to recover.

Newcastle currently have Joey and Danny Guthrie both out injured, and with Kevin Nolan now suspended for 3 games, the hope is that Guthrie can be for for Sunday’s game at Bolton, but no word from Newcastle on whether that’s a possibility.

Danny has been recovering from a hamstring pull, and he’s been in light training for a week or two.

At some point this season it will be good to see how Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton play together, in central midfield,  and hopefully by that time, we’ll be safe from relegation fears, at least for this season.

Comments welcome.

hopefully at some point this season we can put out a full squad.

    Harper
    Beye~collo~bass~enriq
    Taylor~nolan~barton~jonas
    Martins~Owen

Krull, Guthrie, loven, duff, tylor, caroll, viduka

we’d beat most teams perfroming well with that team.

Would be nice to have a fully fit squad and people fighting for places !

Would be great if they were all avialable for the chelski game !

Love to see how that diver Drogba copes with Joey snapping at his heels. 🙂

Great side Murphy. It just showes that our squad is quality, but we always have injuries which is keeping us from reaching our real potentiel.

For once agree with the above. Joey is a big player for the toon and walks straight into midfield in this squad.
Now isn’t the time but when we are safe lets not hold back the young players. Next season Lua Lua and Kadar must get game time. Also Ryan Donaldson for years we have had the hype capped by England at every level. lets give him a chance

Guthrie-Barton is our best central midfield partnership for me.

Makes you think how many games will Butt play next season , when we have Nolan , Barton & Guthrie fit . Giving him a place on the bench would be holding back the development of the young players .

I’m looking forward to seeing Guthrie & Nolan in the misfield. They were good for Bolton last year.
