Newcastle’s Jonas Guttierrez A Big Personality

Chris Hughton has come out today and praised the attitude of one of our summer signings – Jonas Gutierrez – Spiderman.

Jonas challenges Pablo Zabaleta of Manchester City

Chris Hughton, who has said the morale at Newcastle is just first class, has today praised Gutiérrez’s attitude over recent weeks – in which he missed the win at West Brom due to international duty.

And then when he arrived back he found himself starting on the bench against Everton – but Chris seems to have no doubts about Jonas whom he hails as a big personality.

Chris told the Newcastle Journal this morning:

“With all players, they’re going to go through periods of ups and downs where they’re in and out of the side,”

“Going back to the last game, we as coaches had quite a nice situation. We were able to keep the same team that played against West Brom together.”

“And he found himself in the position of coming back from an international break and not playing for his club side.”

“That is testament to the lads who played but it is credit to him as well. He has continued to be excellent around the place – he’s a big personality.”

“The level of his training hasn’t dropped. He knows he’s very much a big part of what’s going on here.”

Jonas has appeared 23 times this season for Newcastle, with 18 starts, and he is already a big favorite with the crowd. And he is also more than willing to talk to the press, and after he was here a couple of days in August, he talked as though he had been on Tyneside for 10 years.   😀

He’s a real character and we still have to see the best from this boy, and we will be shelling out £4M to Real Mallorca for him this week, but he’s worth it!

Now we need him to persuade some of his Argentina international colleagues to join Newcastle too, but only the best ones.

Comments welcome.

Jonas is awesome, i love his gangly runs, he moves a lot faster than he looks like he will!

Get Ranger and Vuckic in the side for next season!!!

Does anyone know why especially ranger hasn’t already been awarded the step up? 20 goals so far this season is not a stat to be ignored! I reckon he’s big enough to handle himself aswel…

I like Jonas but let’s not get carried away, he needs to work on his end product, crossing and shooting

I thought he was suspended for 5 yellows at the WBA game, but, anyway, great player.

    First time posting.
I’m from Oz but my parents are both Geordies. Living in london now. Actually I moved here just in time for KK to quit. Gutted.

Posting cause I got my newcastle jersey this christmas from my girl with jonas on the back.

Him and Oba are the most exciting players we’ve had for years.

Hope they both start this weekend.

Moronic to start the game with the same side simply because they beat West brom – the side bottom of the league.

No consideration of the fact that everton might require playing a higher quality side. By the time Martins and Gutierrez were brought on they had no chance to do anything as we didnt have the ball being down to 10 men.

Who knows what they could have done from the start.
