Andy Carroll Back In Newcastle Squad For Bolton

Gateshead-born striker Andy Carroll will return to the Newcastle United squad for this weekend’s vital trip to Bolton Wanderers at The Reebok Stadium.

Andy Carroll – fit again after injury in Sunderland game

The 6’4″ target man, who turned 20 years-old last month,  has been sidelined since injuring his ankle during the 1-1 draw with Sunderland at St.James’ Park, earlier this month.

Assistant coach Chris Hughton told nufcTV:

“Andy comes back into the squad.”

“He hasn’t had as much training or reserve action as maybe we would’ve liked, but he’s fit and back in contention.”

There is some competition for places up front now with Martins, Viduka and Smith all back from injury, and with Lovenkrands and Ameobi having started last Sunday against Everton.

But that will allow Chris some flexibility, with the substitutes bench now starting to look very strong, for a change.

Andy has done well in his 5 starts so far for his home town club, with two good goals, and he looks a handful for any defense, as the lad is not at all shy in making his 6’4″ frame count in the physical battles – good for him.

As long as Ameobi is not playing, I’m very happy. Viduka and Carroll should be the first choice target man instead of Ameobi who can do anything except advantage.

How on earth did we end up with Carroll rejecting a contract and Shola getting another 3 years? Its like a sentence for the fans.

Bolton’s defenders might have to turn up now though sirjasontoon. Could have stayed at home if Shola was playing

For the love of God no Ameobi in the starting line up.

Realism – he will probably start and be off in the second and replaced by Carroll!

    3 points please lads

i rate Caroll more because he is younger than Ameobi.

Like i said below, Caroll got some of ameobi’s attitude – lazy, gave lots of fouls, complain to referees.

I would always play Carroll ahead of Ameobi.
He´s much better than him and a promising young player.
