HT: Bolton 0 Newcastle 0 – Magpies Looking Good

bolton_wanderers_crestnufc-crest4

In a first half of few real chances, Bolton and Newcastle were still deadlocked at 0-0 at half time, inom their crucial game at The Reebok this afternoon.

This was a fairly even first half, with Newcastle having the better of the few chances the two sides had carved out.

The game started with Bolton immediately going on the offensive in this vital 6 pointer between two relegation candidates.

After 19 mins Bolton got through Newcastle’s strong back four but Swede Johan Elmander was unable to finish a good move. Johan hit the ball way over the cross bar from close range, with a decent chance,  after Matt Taylor had delivered a good ball in from the right hand side.

Ryan Taylor was taking all the corners for Newcastle, and was doing another good job like last week, and after 33min another Ryan Taylor corner had Nigerian Oba Martins connecting well.   But Oba was denied the opening goal by the fist of Finnish International Jaaskelainen right on the goal-line.

That was a good good chance and Newcastle almost opened the scoring.

Then on 41 minutes Newcastle broke quickly out of defense with Ameobi on the ball and the Magpies had a three-on-two situation.  The ball eventually spun free to Argentine Jonas Gutierrez, who got the ball quickly to Oba Martins, who headed the ball wide, when it seemed so much easier to score.

That was a good chance for Newcastle and Martins should have done better.

But as the half came to an end the Newcastle defense, again looking strong, and with Ryan Taylor doing a more than decent job in the middle of the park.

The lads now need to push on for the all important win, in this crucial game.

On the evidence of the first half that’s now very possible.

Howay The Lads!!

Shola looks disinterested and isn’t contributing. Put on Viduka or Carroll!

Løvenkrands is also not having much of an impact… I would put in Smith and Carroll instead of Løvenkrands and Ameobi…

Smith and Butt in CM, Jonas and Ryan on the wings and Carroll-Oba up front…

1-o getting what we deserve if your striker acts negative and disintrested. Shola is championship at best when will the “qualified” coaching staff grow a pair and rock the boat and actually drop Ameobi!

Jonas and Lovenkrands are horrible. Get somone else on. But looking at the bench, we are stuck.

Timmers & Co., can you please stop harping about how Shola needs to come off. He is one of the better performing players today, although thats not saying much…

Gilly, all I’m saying is that everyone is playing shit. No point on blaming it all on Shola

Jinal-mate shola is rubbish, its that simple. He’ll do something half decent every now and again, have a half decent game here and there. Problem is, when he has a half decent game everyone notices and he’s praised heavily for it-purely down to the fact that he’s been gash for years gone by. He is not good enough, on the whole. Simple.

This long ball crap has to stop, it’s amazing Butt was a creative influence compared to Geremi.

Shola has to come off as well, he’s just losing the ball time and again.

You have a point Jinal the front line is simply not working.
But Shola is simply not premiership material.

Lassi-its rare, but i thought butt was decent in the first half and was linking up play quite well. Geremi, didnt have a bad game when he sat in the center last time but i mean…christ, its not exactly a positive change is it. We’ve been told we were going to win this game, so why when we go one nil down we dont try and change up the attacking options to have a positive impact is beyond me like.

    Viduka on for Martins.

What exactly does Shola do to the managers to stay in the team? Why not Carroll on for Ameobi, at least he is a threat in the air.

obamagic-Bassongs challenge on Davies was a pen, but i mean…it didnt scream out penalty when you saw it. From what people are saying abut this handball it was just blatant. my stream is screwed, how clear a handball was it? are we talking, the ball was going in and he put his hand in the way to stop it? or are we talking, it bounced off his hand 50/50 could have been accidental
