The Newcastle Argentine center-back, Fabricio Coloccini, is determined never to get his hair cut short again.
Fabricio Coloccini -will not get hair cut
It turns out that the Argentine did get his hair cut short once, during a difficult spell in Italy at AC Milan as a teenager – but he says he will never bow to player pressure again.
Coloccini said today:
“I will never cut off my hair.” “There was a time when I went to AC Milan and the older players like Costacurta and Maldini said: ‘You must cut your hair. It looks stupid. You must cut it.’
“I was so fed up of everybody’s comments I ended up having it cut. Never again.”
“Here at Newcastle, some of the players say: ‘Bad hair! Bad hair!’ But I don’t care what they say.”
Note:
Since this article went out one of our readers has sent in what Coloccini looked like after cropping his hair at AC Milan – we couldn’t resist putting the photo in.
Sorry Fabricio.
Fabricio Coloccini – with short hair – sent in by one of our readers
We on the blog, had followed Coloccini when he played for Argentina in the World Cup in 2006 in Germany, and he looked more than a decent player in those days, and it has not taken Fabricio long to realize that Newcastle fans are full of football passion and fanatacism.
He admitted:
“The passion of the fans here is amazing – they are more passionate than in Spain and similar to fans in Italy.”
“They are like the fans in South America – of Boca Juniors, or a club like that.” “Newcastle are well known in Argentina for their fans.”
“It would be nice if the club was well known again for its football.”
True words from Fabricio, and it would be good if we started to become a much better side, certainly than we’ve been over the last 4 years, where we’ve been mediocre at best.
But before we can even think of strengthening the squad this summer, we must first of all stay in the Premier League, because if we get relegated we’ll need to offload quite a few of our better players, including Fabricio.
Let’s hope and pray it doesn’t come down to that in June.
That’s the real and terrible situation the club finds itself in right now, and we need some heroes at Newcastle United if are to get the 5 wins we need before the end of the season.
Comments welcome.

Comment #42I really hope Smith proves him self because he could prove to be a very good player but still think he will be on his way along with Viduka, Cacapa, Edgar, Owen, Geremi and possibly Duff. That’s a lot of money off the wage bill and the highest earner then would be Martins, right ? on 80k a week but then below him not many would come close really so if we could have Martins as our highest earner but by along way then that would b a big step in the right direction! 🙂

Comment #43Im sick of watching this Chucklevision show with Barry and Paul. If we lose at Hull we will be toast. Can’t see that happening though because they have been dropping like a stone over the last 12 games. Count on Newcastle to make it harder than necessary though. dear oh dear, to me to you, Chuckle, chuckle vision. haha

Sounds good, once we get rid of that lot we should set a wage limit at whatever Martins is on. But aim to get everyone on about 30-40 tops. I would make an exeption for Bassong though as we need to keep him. Still think Arsenal will sign him tho.

Comment #45It is sad how there are only ever lots of people on the blog on match days now. Usually to ask for links and then complain for a short while afterwards. Imagine how dead it would be if we got relegated. I think the ground attendance would drop to about 25,000- 30,000 as well. People are saying it would be a good thing for us to get relegated and start again but it would just be a disaster. We would lose the likes of Bassong, Coloccini, Martins and Jonas and I think we would just never get back up.

Comment #49I can’t believe we’re talking about hair. I couldn’t think of anything less significant to talk about.

Comment #50On the subject of hair,
I wonder how Coloccini has any control of his headers with that mess.

Comment #51Do we care. I couldn’t find a less topic that is as meaningless and pathetic as this. No one gives a damn about his hair. There are more pressing problems.

Comment #53A loss wouldn’t suprise me at all.
Tbh I really couldn’t care less at the minute, had a very bad day up north, blast of the bast kinda thing, like we went back 10 years ago.
So it’s a wee bit irritating to come on and read about bloody hair.

Comment #54Well you know what, hows about Coloccini stop worrying about his hair and start worrying about being a fcuking £11million defender? He looks absolutely gash next to a previously unknown £500k french defender. Out of everyone, he has disappointed me most. He’s been the biggest signing we’ve made since Owen, and not even came close to Bassong’s level of performance.

Comment #63Hey guys,a collo is one of the highest pass interceptors in the league and thats one of his qualities we need. The big teams do not come with aerial tactics they like to pass the ball around the box and if you saw the man u game, he made 3 to 4 timely interceptions. Defending is not all about how good u can head the ball, its about reading the game and walkin the ball out of the box and collo is one of the best in the business!
