After being told that Damien Duff would be ready for the game on Saturday at Hull City, it seems there is a big doubt now on whether the Irishman will be ready for the game.
Damien Duff – big doubt for Saturday
The news today is that Duff is struggling to be fit in time, since leaving the home game at half time against Everton, after suffering a calf injury.
That injury has so far kept him out of the defeats against Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United.
Duff has always struggled with injuries throughout his career, and it turns out he has not trained this week at all, and has to be a major doubt for the Hull game.
But we should have Gutierrez and Ryan Taylor available, and we would expect Peter lovenkrands and Oba Martins to start up fornt, after they looked good together last Wednesday night, with Peter scoring another goal, and Oba due a few goals soon.
Michael Owen will also be available, but we don’t expect Michael to start at Hull, although the news is that he’s been looking sharp in training this week.
But we still expect the captain can to play a big part for us in a game we just must win and cannot lose.

Comment #2Start Michael Owen upfront with Martins and play Jonas and Lovenkrants on the flanks. If Owen gets tired in the 2:nd half then bring in Caroll, problem solved!

Comment #3Well I reckon its a shame he has been so dogged by injuries, as when he has had a decent run in the team he has looked very good. I would prefer to see a consistently fit Duff to a consistently fit Owen as I feel he contributes more to the side overall.

Totally agree with you as long as Butt is not in the first eleven team for the rest of the season !!!!!!
Butt keep on giving away possession and luv to back pass all the time ! Dont see his adding value to the team anymore !!!!!!!
