Kinnear – Newcastle Hit By Everything – But Pompey Win

Joe Kinnear has talked to the Evening Chronicle today, and Joe still seems confident of coming back to lead Newcastle to safety, but with Portsmouth beating Everton 2-1 at Fratton Park earlier today, the heat will be on Newcastle to win this afternoon, even though it’s Arsenal who are the visitors.

Joe Kinnear – we’ve been hit by everything

Kinnear told the Evening Chronicle today:

“I thought I’d be back after West Brom, and I was disappointed and frustrated at what happened to me.”   “I was just disappointed that it happened when it did.” “It felt like we were on the start of a decent run and starting to pull away.”

“We had just signed two key players in Kevin Nolan and Ryan Taylor, and it was looking up.” “I never even gave relegation a thought and never thought we would be in this position.”  “I have always been a fighter and I think I have enough fighters to see us through this. Then I can look forward to next season and getting back.”

“This can’t happen again.”   “We’ve been hit with everything, injuries, illness, suspensions, we’ve had six penalties against us and we’ve had players sent off who shouldn’t have been.”

“The supporters have been through it all and stuck with us.” “Look at the gates – they have been sensational compared to the others.” “We have to do it for them.”

It’s getting to be an almost it’s now or never for the lads, as other teams around us are starting to pick up points.

Portsmouth beat Everton 2-1 today, in the early kick-off game, with a solid and spirited performance, and two fine goals by Peter Crouch. Pompey have now moved 3 points clear of Newcastle, so the Tyneside club are now 3rd bottom of the league.

Portsmouth came from behind after conceding an early goal, direct from a free kick by former Wigan full-back, Leighton Baines. It was Leighton’s first goal for the Merseysiders.

We’ll need all 3 points out of the Arsenal game this afternoon, if we are to get away from the bottom three.

And with two weeks until the next game, it would not be good to be in the bottom three for that length of time.

Howay The Lads!!

Joe Kinnear… Im glad you are well but you talk as if you have done such a wonderful job in charge… However, you havnt and the mere fact that you rate Ameobi and Butt suggests you are clueless as a manager.

well well well, Both Owen and Jonas on the bench!

If we get thrashed today, chris has alot to answer for. What’s he hoping to achieve by flooding the midfield?

I don’t believe the team on the whole has the fight to avoid relegation. We will be in the relegation zone 2 points adrift by the end of the 3pm games. There are one or two players that want to leave so i dont believe they are bothered. It makes me feel sick thinking it but ultimately positive thinking from the fans wont save us. We will be relegated. There i’ve said it. Arsenal are on a run of form we are not. Hughton was a poor signing by Keegan as a number 2. How on earth we can beat Arsenal when we’re not beating our rivals at home is pathetic. The team should’ve irrispective of who or who isnt there should have gathered themselves up which i think is the captains job. But when your captain doesnt show signs of committment and is reviewing his options. Either change captain or expect that view to filter which has ultimately gone to the rest of the team.
Prediction 0-2 to arsenal we’ll be 2 points adrift. Negative yes, but me typing or thinking this has no way of ifluencing the players. I dont think Ashley wanted relegation as the value of the club will plummit, but wages wise he’ll save millions.
If he sticks with Kinnear next season we wont come straight back up, we need a younger stronger manager who follows the game. A manger that has experience of the championship Bothroyd (ex-watford) might not be liked but he would get us back up. Then we get a manger that will keep us stable (bruce 3 years) then a manager that will kcik us on etc etc.
