It will come as no surprise to Geordie fans that Newcastle’s 17 year-old 6’2″ striker Nile Ranger has been added to the England Under-19 squad, for their friendly match with the Czech Republic at Walsall, on Wednesday night.
Nile Ranger – England Under-19 call-up for Newcastle youngster
Nile has had a terrific first season on Tyneside, since arriving from Southampton last August, and he’s scored 22 goals for the Newcastle U-18 (15) and Reserve (7) sides this season. Nile got his 22nd goal last Saturday, although the U-18 side surprisingly went down 3-2 to Everton at Darsley Park.
Nile deserves his very first England call-up for his outstanding play this season, and it’s the England U-19 side, no less.
Nile recently also won the Wor Jackie Award given to the outstanding youngster at the Newcastle club, at this month’s SportNewcastle dinner.
We would expect Nile to be quite satisfied with a terrific first season at Newcastle, and he’s already said how much he loves playing for the club.
If only our senior players were as outstanding as our youngsters are.
A big congratulations to Nile, he’s deserved everything coming his way, and he’s certainly put his head down, and worked hard since arriving on Tyneside, and you cannot ask more than that!
